My pal Dave ordered some SOG's and received them yesterday. Here is what he wrote to me....

"Received my SOGWinder II & Serrated Magnadot today. Decided to replace my 30-year-old Case Sodbuster. Well, not really replace, just give it some time off . . .

Very nice, and very sharp. Managed to slice open my finger while
testing the closing mechanism on Magnadot. Nothing dramatic,
it's not spring loaded. However, just the weight of the falling
blade was enough; it landed on one of the serrated points. It
wouldn't stop bleeding until I wrapped a Band-Aid as tight as I
could get it."

Carl, your friend should be more carefull. Thank goodness he wasn't cut worse then he was... Also, glad he likes his new SOGs.:D

Carl, Isn't that strange , , I got broke in on SOG knives exactly the same way, I too had to bleed myself with my first BG 42 tanto autoclip.:( In fact, I bled myself for several days, on the same finger, over and over until I figured out what the problem was, it was the sharpest knife I EVER had in my pocket !
 , DUH ! Of course I acted like I knew what I was doing and my wife thought it was some kind of secret SOG initiation that only SOG people do. Since then, I learned one very important thing about SOG knives, that only us EXPERT  , SOG people know, and that is...... carry plenty of band-aids in your billfolds....:p

that's one reason I stay away from folders, they're too outta control for me and way too complex to operate.

on another knife topic, I just got the call from the wife, "Hey, your new/old old/new Kabar just arrived at the house."

OH THE JOY !!!

Cheers,

Carl

Happened to me when I first got my SOG Vision. It was my first Arc-Lock SOG. I thought at first that it had an opening assist, kind of a forerunner to the SAT opening mechanism. When I expected it to fully open and it didn't, I let my guard down a little and didn't move my thumb out of the way quite as quickly as the blade falling back toward the handle.

Just a touch of the serration and...OUCH!

Two points of the serrated edge barely caught me, but the bleeding stayed for a while. Of course, this was my "opening thumb", so I didn't get to play again for a few days!! :(

Just goes to show you, no matter how much you handle knives you still have to be very alert and have much respect for a good blade edge!! :D
