That big old lanyard hole is just screaming for some paracord, but I just can't bring my self to attach a "fob". Maybe I should make/buy one just to try it out...thoughts?

I say go for it. You could tie a Chris Reeve type lanyard or maybe a cobra stitch lanyard. As Both are pretty easy to tie and look pretty nice IMO. You could even buy some anodized beads to use as cord ends if you want. For colors, I always like how black/ toxic green looks but thats just me.

Amazon.com a para-cord lanyard. I threw one on my recon1 and love it. Clip the knife to my back pocket and let the lanyard hang out.

Swing by your local Army/Navy store and pick up a hank of 550 cord for a few bucks. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't but there's no reason not to give it a shot since it seems to be on your mind anyway.

This. A couple of bucks and you've got whatever kind of fob you feel like making.

Attach to paracord.

I have never really liked lanyards on my knives but I recently picked up a PM 2 and have been thinking the exact same thing about that big ole lanyard hole. I like the idea of a Chris Reeve type lanyard.

On the Para a fob/lanyard works well wrapped around the exterior of the tube.

I used black 550 paracord to tie a Reeve choil knot on mine. No bead.

Works great, and easy to do.
It helped the looks also as it matched my black G-10. I also sanded my clip with 400 grit, and then a scotchbright pad which also helped the looks.

I agree with the others, go to a local Army/Navy store (if you can't look on amazon) and get yourself some paracord. Then just search around on blade forums and youtube etc.. and find a lanyard you like; it will be fun and you will feel accomplished.

I just looked and the lanyard Chris Reeves does is quite simple, here are their instructions:

skwurll, prime77 and Knife Crazied, how did you guys tie your lanyards? Any links that you can share? I tried to start a thread in the general knife discussion but it got moved to another sub forum where not too many people visit.

Something I threw together. Not really pleased with it but fun just the same. Need a different knot.

Thanks. Someone else linked Stormdrane as a good source in my other thread. I'll check it out.
