I picked up up Case butterbean recently and my favorite peanut is sitting on my night stand. I generally don't care for Case Tru-Sharp but in a knife this small I'm not doing anything but light cutting. This is a cool little knife. F&F is excellent. The only thing I miss is the clip point blade of my peanut. It is quite the splinter-picker.

The peanut and butterbean......

The butterbean sharpened up nicely.

So what are you waiting for? Go buy another Case Peanut to keep the little red one company.

Geez, do we REALLY have to remind you that you have the perfect reason to buy another knife? :p

thx - cpr

Hmmm, this could be a possable violation of the cult rules. I'll have to check on that. On the other hand, you did stay with one of the wee ones. And it IS a pretty little thing at that.

Sad Peanut?

;)

But seriously, those Butterbeans have wicked thin blades. Pound for pound one of the best slicers around!

I feel your pain Morrowj... I have been true blue to my Peanuts over the past 3+ years. I had been looking at the Baby Butterbeans for more than a year with genuine interest but felt that I was already well covered with my Peanuts. To avoid the purchase of a Baby Butterbean I even pulled out my NIB yellow CV Peanut I had put away 2 years ago. I finally was overcome and got a goldenrod w/pinched bolsters. I love it! Very well made, rides well in the pocket and comfortable to use. I am feeling very guilty and that I have wronged my Peanut.

My solution... I have carried my Cripple Creek Barlow for 2 days and now am planning on going back to the yellow CV Peanut. The Barlow took me out of the small knife mentality and now I am ready to resettle with my Peanut. As additional make up to my Peanuts, I added my Derlin ss Peanut to my go bag that stays within reach.

This is probably blasphemy but I would likely take a bean over a peanut.

BTW, you have excellent sharpening skills! The edge on that BB is nicely polished!

That butterbean is nice! I need to get one myself; have been meaning to try the pattern. Thank you for posting the pictures. I also find myself missing a clip-point when I don't have one, but I think I would still happily carry the butterbean.

I too like the Baby Butterbean, and prefer it to the Peanut.

But the Peanut ain't bad either.

Case G-10 Peanut.

I did things the opposite way. First wee knife I bought was my baby butterbean in shadow bone. The I bought the one below it, an unknown maker but it is carbon steel, holds a great edge, rosewood scales, wicked lil' clip. Beside it is the third wee purchase, a Fight'n Rooster, and last above the FR is my peanut...CV in yellow.

My favorite is the little rosewood clip blade...very sharp, needle point, it often serves as a worry stone in my pocket.

Case G-10 Peanut.

I have handled a peanut and looked at other case black handle knives they are "calling" G-10 but you can see the woven fabric of micarta most definatly. Am I missing something but I thought G-10 was a resin type product. Find photos on the net of them and enlarge the photo and look at the woven pattern of what they are "calling" G-10

Just curious but I think it is mircarta.

G-10 is a type of fiberglass so it will show a cloth like pattern.

G-10 is a heat retardant, electrical grade laminate created by layering fiberglass cloth and industrial grade resin. The material is then heated and compressed to bind the layers. First introduced in the mid 1950's the scientifically manufactured substance has also been used in aerospace and underwater applications. Because it is so versatile G-10, and variations of it, serve well in making insulation for extremely high and low temperature electrical and medical equipment.

You also normally don't see G-10 with a polished finish, however that is G-10...all G-10 has woven fiberglass in it or it isn't G-10.

Did not know that. All the G-10 handles I have seen have been textured in some way or checkered or what ever. Even so the smooth edges on any g-ten handle I have seen I have never seen this pattern I am speaking of on the case scales.

I will have to do some studing up on both it seems.

Thanks

Did not take long I googled G-10 and the advertisment from a manufacturer said G-10 fiber glass boards are impervious to what ever. I learned today what a change.
