Well, let me begin with the history of the whole matter. My Wife gifted me with a beautiful Case Damascus Peanut about 16 months ago, give or take.I just had to have it,after reading about Carls Damascus Nut.I carried that little knife daily for a year, used it for almost everything.I really loved the way it carried in my jeans pocket, unnoticed until needed.I had been lusting after a Case Swayback Jack for a long time and decided that I had to have one of those in a bad way. So,my Wife bought me one of those too,in Chestnut and CV.It's a great knife also and I really love the pattern, the Wharncliffe blade has developed a nice patina these last 4 months. As of late I started missing my Peanut and how she carried so comfortably in my pocket,I even thought I could hear her weeping, unloved in my knife chest.Well, yesterday I could'nt take it anymore!I took my little friend back out of that cold horrid place, oiled her joints, honed her to perfection, then put her snugly back in my pocket where she belongs.I feel complete again, just thought I'd share. Thanks for listening.-Jim

Great to see that I'm not the only Jim here on the forum :D

Isn't it funny how no matter what the latest fling may be, there is still that one in your collection that you just keep coming back to? I just pocketed my Grandfather's Opinel again after a long while of neglect. I never realized how much I love back pocket knives until I put it next to my wallet today.

That feeling of completeness never gets old, it is a fascinating phenomenon, is it not? The fact that an inanimate object can evoke such emotions within us is simply incredible in my opinion.

Good on ya, have a nice day!

I know the feeling. My chestnut bone peanut was down in the dumps while I participated in June's stockman traditional of the month. Joy burst forth (from the knife? from me? maybe both!) on July 1 when the peanut returned to its rightful place.

Jim, you need to be veeery careful for the next week or so. Those peanuts have sensitive feelings, and very well could harbor some feelings of resentment. They may in fact give you a little nip to remind you they are not to be taken lightly.
:D

Carl.

I hear you with this one. I bought a early 70's peanut NIB and started carrying it a year ago (I have no safe queens) and it is my EDC. Covers everything I need.
Beautiful patina on her now all natural.

I wish some of you would post a photo or two :-)

I think we overlooked the fact that Jim has a great wife, a Damascus peanut what a fantastic gift.
Here is what my peanut looks like today, it's been in my pocket everyday since 12/24/11.

This thread prompted me to pocket my Case Peanut this morning, the AG Russell was getting all the Peanut time so I figured a change was in order:

I have to get me a CV peanut in chestnut. That chestnut bone just pairs so well with patina'd(spelling?) CV
