I absolutely love my spyderco knives. My favorite fixed blade is the aqua salt. Perfect design, weight, size, and balance. The polymer sheaths I don't like. This note is for Sal, I would gladly pay 40 dollars more for a good boltaron sheath. I just got my latest aqua salt yesterday. I put knife in sheath and it would not come out. After several minutes jerking as hard as I could it finally came out. I put a little gun oil on the little nubbies at the sheath entrance where it catches on the base of the handle. Put it in and out of the sheath very briskly and had to jerk it out every time. Did this around 200 times. I can get it out now by jerking it hard every time. I still can not use my thumb to push it off. It also started rubbing the coating off. And needless to say all of the ones with the polymer sheaths dull the blade after putting in and out of sheath about 10 times. I also have maybe 20 of their folders, have a pic of a few of them. A lot of their folding knives I won't buy because of the blade to handle length ratio. I don't care for a 3 inch cutting edge with a 5 inch handle. I am not trying to trash their company since as you can see I own many. Just sharing some of my observations.View attachment 2112180View attachment 2112181View attachment 2112183View attachment 2112185

I have an Aqua Salt PE too and its a very nice knife. Hopeing to pick up a SE at a discount since its discontinued.

Mine was a little sticky in sheath at the beginning, push with thumb was hard at the beginning but eased up and works perfect now.

No need to "jerk" it

Hi W,

Thanx for the post, pics and info. Also thanx much for the support.

Injection molded sheaths are a challenge, in my opinion. We do them to try to bring the cost down on some models, but they can be difficult. Unfortunately, a good Boltaron sheath will cost more than $40 added to the price of the finished product. With an injection molded sheath, we incur a higher tooling cost, but the finished product is much less expensive. We keep trying, but as mentioned, it is sometimes hit or miss. Once broken in, the Injection Molded Sheaths, are not too bad. We'll keep trying to make them better.

You can always purchase an aftermarket sheath?

Hi Brummie,

Original Temperance In-the-works. Patience required.

Really? That’s great.

I think the last time I hassled you about that, some years back, it was a big, fat no.

I’ll take a Temperance and a Street Bowie in magnacut, please.

You need an original Temperance. I wish they’d bring those back in cru-wear or magnacut
A huge "AMEN"!! to the original TEMPERANCE 1 model. It's still one of my very favorite Spyderco fixed blades. I still use both of mine quite frequently ( SE & PE). It was one of the few tactical type fixed blades that they made in SE & PE both. The original was made with VG-10 and still performs quite nicely. Also I'm sure you remember that they even had a trainer for that particular model as well.

Your suggestion of a TEMP 1 model in "Magnacut" is certainly a good one. I've suggested on the Spyderco.com forum that they even bring back the TEMP 1 with one of the corrosion resistant blade steels and do a Salt Series version of it. But having a TEMP in Magnacut would also be one I would certainly have to own.

You don't hear very many of the guys talk much about that 2004 Classic Spyderco fixed blade TEMP 1 model. The handle is almost perfect and blade design is certainly one of Spyderco's best "In House Designs" for sure.

A Temperance in magnacut would be a Salt version.

It's a great practical/tactical design, but I don't think the newbies know about it.
