This was my second knife show, the first being Blade 2009. It was great to meet all these people who post on the forums and others who don't. You read the posts and see the photo's but it just a small glimpse into that person. It was nice to see the personal side of these great folks.

When I arrived at the show I made a bee line to Mark of Burl Source's table before even putting out my knives. The one thing that Blade taught me was don't wait till the last day to buy handle material. It paid off, because Mark had some amazing Koa. A great guy with some terrific handle material. I also picked up some premium bark mammoth, a two foot chunk, from Brett Mathews of Inherit knife and trade. Sorry no photo's of Brett.

I stayed an extra after the show to take a forging class from Bill Burke. The cool thing about the class was Wade Colter was there as well. I got two Mastersmiths for the price of one:thumbup:. They were both very helpful and shared some great forging techniques.

Mark form Burl Source holding one of my integrals. The gentleman next to him is the new owner of that knife.

Mike, It was great to met you. Great pics maybe you could give me a few pointers next year on how to take better pics. By the way looking at that pic of me we should try a satin finish on my head.:D:D

it says a lot about the guy who takes the pictures when his subjects give him such sincere smiles. Nice thread, Mike:thumbup:

Mike, those are great shots. You must disarm people well to have them smile and profile so willingly and happily.

### Edit: Lorien and I posted at the same time. Some truth in that!

Thank you.

Bruce, I had to go back and see, and laughed out loud. :p ;) Maybe even sandblast...

Thanks for the photos Mike!!!

Sure wish I could have been there in person... the photos help make it suck less that I couldn't be. :)

Very glad to see you win those awards!!! A lot of hard work and attention to detail is paying off! :)

I guarantee that a guy who is only at his second show and walks in with work worthy of THREE awards had to have turned a lot of heads!!!

'Ya done good my friend  :)

Thanks for the pics Mike. I enjoyed getting to know you better. The awards were well deserved.
To everyone, get on the list for next year. Everyone I talked to is coming back.

When Mike had posted a photo on the forum of the integral knife I was holding, I was really impressed. Seeing it in person it looked even better. I was very impressed with everything Mike had on his table. I can't wait to see what he comes up with in the future.
I think the reason why everyone smiled for Mike is because in addition to being a talented maker, he is a very polite and friendly guy.

It's true Erik! Since I didn't wear a cowboy hat in San Antonio it had to be distributed to other places ;) :p

BTW- Bruce looks very distinguished with his nicely trimmed beard!

I sure missed out on hanging out with old friends and meeting some new ones. :( :grumpy: Oh well, there's always next year. :)

There sure seems to be a lot of flat-rate boxes next to Bill's 50# ;) :D

As per Mike QUIZZ-EN-BERRY ;) He is as bad, or even more anal retentive than I am, but he knows how to actually get knives DONE. I'm not technically in a position to say so, but I have no doubt Mike will be a mastersmith before you know it. :)
