My knife score at PKA!

Front to back: an Eddie Baca that I ordered a while back and he finished in time to let me pick it up at the show (bottom).
Peter Marzitelli (center) I've always wanted one.
Bob Teruzuola (top) He was so nice to me; I just HAD to buy one of his knives.

I had fun drinkin' and hangin' out with a bunch of knife makers at the hotel bar too; I don't get to do that too much around here. I made lots of friends and really enjoyed the ONE knife show I get to experience each year.

Hey FOL, nice haul.

My brother, who lives in Denver, called me on Sunday night to tell me that he had been to the show. He likes knives, but wouldn't consider himself a collector. Of course, he didn't call me before to tell me, so I could hint about makers to look out for.

So he is a little embarrassed to tell me that he had spent quite a bit of money (for anyone, but especially for someone who doesn't collect knives) on a custom knife. I ask the name of the maker, and it's Don Bell. I don't have any of Don's knives, but of course I've seen his work, and I had to laugh and tell my brother that I'm sure that he did just fine, got good value for his money, etc. I asked him why he peicked one of Don's knives, as opposed to the other makers (not that he shouldn't have, I just wanted to know). He told me that the knife "just spoke to him". I said "yeah, yeah, been there--done that".

All the while laughing to myself-----bwahahaha! You got the bug!!! Does he think that he'll be able to stop here?????

Anyway, it sounded like a great show, and you sure ought to have satisfied the knife demon at least until Thursday! :D

Thanks! Yeah, I'm pretty happy.

Don Bell is one of the guys I hung out with saturday night (along with Eddie Baca, Mike & Audra Drapier, Mike Mooney, David Johansen, and also Dell Blue and Amanda from Spyderco and some other people I didn't really get to know. A few of us got pretty loaded. :D I took a cab home and picked up my car the next day. I'm pretty sure Dell didn't drive either. Most everyone stayed at the hotel so they didn't have to worry about that.

Don is an oddball (but aren't we all) but a nice and fun guy. If it's Don's all damascus folder that he bought, I was playing with it that night. It's nice. That damascus makes for a really toothy edge.

BOTH the Eddie Baca and the Teruzoula are framelocks. I'm told Bob just stared making framelocks.

The Teruzoula is little. 3" blade with cocobolo (I think) scales.

The Eddie Baca is custom made for me. Bronze parts on Titanium. 3.25" D2 blade. It weighs about 3 lbs. :D

I don't know much about the Marzitelli, but I've got another one on order from him. He's making me one that's dedicated tip-up carry with dinos on both sides of the blades and a pile of bones on the left handle.

.

FYI: the Terzuola is a Model 7. You are right- Bob just started making Framelocks a few months ago, there's not too many out there- nice score!

Thanks for that info. I didn't even REALLY know what I had. I appreciate that.

Hey FOL,

I remember hanging out with you at the bar in Denver after the PKA show. I'm new to the forums, but ran across your thread when I did a search on my own name.

Don Bell and I were hanging out together this weekend at the Arizona show. He's a hoot! I won Best Utility Hunting Knife there. Another trophy for the "I Love Me" wall. Maybe I can figure out how to post a picture of it on this forum somewhere.

I hope to see you at PKA next year, or somewhere in between.

Regards,
Mike Mooney

Of course, I remember you! Man, we were all wasted. It was a lot of fun, though. I'll definately be there next year too.
