The PKA show in Denver was last weekend and as usual it was a good time. It was good seeing and talking with everyone again. I had Terrill Hoffman take a few pictures for me. As usual I was extremely pleased with his pictures.
The first one is a dressed up Mini Slim Pickens. It has a 5" twisted W pattern blade of 1084 & 15N20. The handle is snakewood and the fittings are 416 Stainless.

The next one is a Dirk that has a 5 1/2" blade of 1084 & 15N20. The handle material is fossil walrus ivory and nickel silver. Slim and pointy was the objective with this one. Paul Long made the excellent sheathes on the next three knives.

The third one I had photod is an Eastside Fighter. It has a 12 blade of W2. The hamon has alot going on with it. There is utsuri, ashi and also nie in the blade. The fittings are blued mild steel. The handle is a piece of deeply textured stag. The balnce point on this one is just in front of the guard, it is very quick in the hand. This one won Best Fighter at the show.

The last one is a bowie that I really had fun with. It has a lot of techniques that I have been wanting to do but had not had the time to try. I just had fun with this one. It has a 10" blade of some more damascus that I have yet to name. I do have the pattern construction written down and plan to recreate them. The guard, spacer and the tang wrap are also damascus. I also have a fileworked nickel silver liner between the tang wrap and the handle material. The handle material is preban elephant ivory with documentation. I finished it off with domed pins. This one was a hoot to build and much more challenging than I expected. But in the end it all paid off as this one won Best Bowie and also Best of Show.

Wow, you had a great show.

Best Fighter; Best Bowie and Best of Show. Impressive.

All just fantastic. Especially like the fighter.

Of course the Paul Long sheaths are magnificent as always.

Craig, Congratulations on your well deserved awards at PKA. As you know I hadn't seen the actual knives until now and all I can say Is WOW! They are spectacular.

Paul

Craig, you have come a long way, in what seems like a short time.

Congrats on the awards and good looking knives.

All four are great, but that last one really gets the lustful thoughts going. That pattern welded steel has a great pattern.

Congratulations, Craig!

I'm not surprised though. I attended the PKA show and had the pleasure of handling and examining these knives. Indeed, they are quite impressive! Paul Long's sheath work compliments these blades nicely and Terrill Hoffman's images present them beautifully.

The PKA puts on a great show every year - laid back and just the right size for those (like me) who tend to get over-stimulated and worn out by some of the larger shows.

Craig,

Please put me down immediately for one of those East Side fighters. I'm serious. I'm thinking walrus or core mammoth for the handle on mine.

All the knives are terrific - congrats on the awards!

Roger

Had to come back to look again Craig.

They process all the components and features of great knives.

Spectacular and congratulations on the awards. That fighter is my favorite but the ivory handled bowie is not far behind.

I have one of your knives but it is plain by comparison to these beauties.

Peter

Great knives Craig and congrats on the well deserved awards. I had hoped to have gotten to PKA but with the travels we have been doing I was actually spending time at Brian Lyttle's place having a nice piece I had acquired on EBay last year made by another maker (now retired) which needed some reworking and when I return I'll photograph it and post. I am hoping to stop at his place on my way down to the Montana Show this weekend and let him see the piece. Shrinkage can be a real PITA.

I also got the first of a new method of doing hunters by Brian and he also spent time doing a sheath for it and another piece I had gotten last March at the CKG show.

When I return, I'll also get it photographed and will try to explain with Brians notes just what he is doing now.

once more Craig congratulations on some great knives

Very impressive! Diggin on the last one, always a nice style.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I really had alot of fun making these. I was actually ahead time wise when I started working on these for the show so I tried new designs and techniqiues.

Paul the sheaths really made the knives stand out. You will be getting to do a lot more sheaths for me if you would like to do them.

Roger a PM is on the way.

Evil Eye Roy will you be at the Spirit of Steel Show in Dallas?
