I am loving my paramilitary 2, had it for a couple of days now...the only thing I wish I could change is I wish there would be a liner lock or framelock version of the pm2

anyone else with me?

It is one of the best features of the knife imho. I wish more were made with it.

Nope. Leave it alone. Now if you're talking a PM2 XL,......count me in.

I agree the knife is perfect. I never understood the hype till a month ago when I got my first...now I have 4...

I have 2, 1 user, one orange safe queen. I'll catch some flak for this here, but so far I find it to be the best edc ever including my sebenza. Gonna try a few zt's soon, but i have my doubts. The pm2 for over 2 years has set the bar for my expectations in a knife. Pm2= perfect!

Nope. The fact that the lock is out of the way when using the knife is one of its best features. There is a liner lock on the Military and that is one of the main reasons why I do not like that model. The jimping on the liner lock impacts the forefinger when using and is uncomfortable. With the compression lock, that is out of the way and makes the grip on the knife much more comfortable. I like the PM2. If it had a liner lock it would simply be a smaller military and equally uncomfortable. Good move on Spyderco's part - IMHO. :)

As I mentioned above - that would just be the Military. Take one PM2, upgrade the size, add liner lock = Military. ;)

I like the compression lock as well. That, the Axis lock on Benchmade, the ball bearing lock on the Manix, are all improvements on the liner or frame locking systems.

JMO.

What I meant was a Military with a compression lock. Since some people don't want the Military to be changed, why not just make a larger PM2 and call it the XL version. Same thing as the Manix 2. Two models to choose from. It probably sounds dumb but oh well,......wishful thinking.

No, actually, I agree with you now that I understand your point. Giving the Military a compression lock makes a lot of sense to me. Of course, maybe it sounds dumb to everyone else but I'm with you on this.

Yeah with a compression lock on the military I might have to get one. I'm not big on liner locks on any knives. Some have nice ones but I still don't like having my fingers in the way when closing.

All my Liner Locks are pure Safe Queens as I like my Fingers thank you very much.!! I "HATE" the L L,s and will not use one even if it was a Seb. or any other knife made with the L. L. style.* Do not trust them and I do like my Fingers and would like to take them all with me when I go.!!* I have 5 of the Para's that I switch around for EDC Carry and have never carried a Liner Lock and never will.!* { I think you get the idea.*} LOL

Sorry OP, not with you at all. The compression lock is my favorite, and the main reason I love my PM2s so much. More knives need this lock!

I'd have to agree with others in that if the PM2 was a liner lock I wouldn't have looked at it twice and that if they added the compression lock to the Military and the option of tip up carry I'd have bought at least one if not a couple by now. I don't distrust liner locks and I have a tons of them, many are great, but I'm tired of all the lock bar variation we see, both in engagement and in lock bar tension, so these days I typically avoid them. If my 0551/0561 are any indication the problem has not improved. Over the years all the knives I've had to return every one was a problem related to the liner lock issue.

Tuffthumbz ground a couple TI milies into the shape of para 2s...pretty sick if I do say so myself:D

I'd be willing to bet that the ZT's won't supplant your Para 2. I have both and would take the PM 2 any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Liner/frame locks are just fine but the compression lock is my favorite. I wouldn't change it.

I do like the Para2XL aka Military w/ compression lock.

wow i guess its quite clear which way people are leaning towards! guess i must be missing something when it comes to compression locks, I am however quite new to folders and very new to spyderco so happy to learn anything i can! What are the advantages that compression locks have over liner or framelocks? Is there less chance of the blade slipping or something?
