I know this isn't exactly a "custom knife" topic, but just imagine how many customs will be made with this one. And maybe one or two knife collectors and users like to see some fine piece of equipment :)

After a 11 month long struggle with the previous owners this purtty little hammer arrived today.

It's a Sahinler air hammer with 110 lb headweight, you can learn more about this hammer over here www.powerhammers.com .

If I'd be telling you what I paid for it you'd probably woant to beat me with a stick :D. And it even included the delivery (300 mile trip) by a truck with a loading crane, that made unloading the hammer a lot more comfortable.

I'm just a happy as can be now :boogie: and cleaned the little baby with intensive care. Although I'm not that photo compatible, you can see how much I'm grinning all over the place. I still can't believe it.

Now the foundation will be a bit of a problem, I'll probably have me a steel tub welded, and pour in some cement, reinforced with steel. And of course I'll put some state of the art isolating rubber pad under the whole construction. I'll probably spend all the money, that the hammer saved me, on the foundation, but my neighbors are very likely to thank me for doing so :D.

Looking forward to your comments.

Regards Marcus

You have a great hammer there. I have seen these mounted on a wood base with no trouble, like two 8''x8'' oak timbers, pretty quite set up this way too.
Good luck and enjoy

Thanks a lot Don and Chris, you both reasured me in my thoughts of using a wooden base.

I will definitely enjoy the new hammer if he's up and running :D.

Very sweet - I've been getting in hammer literature and trying to decide on a model to order. Yours looks really nice and clean for being used! I'm not sure if they're any easier to deliver and set up here in the states but I'm defintely doing the base before it's delivered so once it's set it's done.

Just go to this thread over at the knifenetwork.com, there you can see an airhammer in action and some bladesproduced with it.

@NorthStar:

It was used for about two hours and then put away to a storage room :D.

As the hammer has a central lifting eye it's quite easy to movie despite the 1,2 t. Here's a pic of the setup.

I hope you have as much luck as I had on my hammer search.

Congratulations :D:thumbup:!!!!!!!!:thumbdn:clap-clap Way to go Marcus,

I have a 100lb. BigBlue in my shop. Love it:D.

I set mine up on an existing conc. floor that is 4 inches thick, with a good base under it. I set it down on a 1/4" thick hard rubber mat with just enough room for a bead of silicon calk all the way around the base. You don't want any junk under the base. I used a hammer drill to bore the holes for the 1/2"
rods that hold it in place horizontally. There is no worry about movement vertically with that kind of weight. It has not moved at all in 5 years.

Have a great time with that beauty, Fred
