I had a car Leaf Spring. I've made this axe with. It was a funny stuff. The more difficult was to remove this ******* piece of black rubber out of the spring eye!!!

Ok, it's an ugly axe... but it cuts! Not as well than a Gransfors Bruck axe, that's sure, but it's cheap and it do the job.
Handle is a piece of rough "houx" (holly in english?).

Primitive it maybe but if it works and can keep an edge then dont knock it
nice camera work by the way

Thank you Norca. I'd want to find a more thick leaf spring (4X4 car or truck) to make like a tomahawk. I'll showing you.

I like it. How does it do with any turning on the handle. It looks like it would be fun to do and would be fun to try one day.

It's like a pickaxe' handle. But it's a larger handle, so it's easy to make it oval.

If you could bend the blade to make it central to the eye and give better balance a bit of shape with bandsaw and file I bet it will make a mean thrower
might nip to the scrap-yard later

one of my throwing buddies has a hawk he made from a leaf spring and the handle was home made too. Its awsome!! Best hawk of the lot and we have H&B , M&W and some hand forged stuff. Its a beauty .. and its a leaf spring? :barf: :o
