Yo! You guys ever have the problem with pocket clips becoming loose/losing screws, etc.? I've gone thru many a knife not because of any blade issues but because the pocket clip is unworthy. I found a Browning model 117 that has it's pocket clip anchored into the handle (I don't know if that's a proper description, :o) and it's never loose. In fact, it's the best everyday-used pocket knife I've owned. Anyway, what's your two cents, is this just a product of cheap knives? Late!

Hey there,

Is it attached with screws? If so, grab some blue loctite and put a dab on the threads of the screw before reinserting and tightening. Let it sit for 24 hours or so and you'll be good to go.

take care,

I've never had a problem with them loosening, just bending.I hate when you can't remove a pocket clip to bend it back.I had this problem with my Mcusta.I still wear it,but can only clip it to thick materials like blue jeans.

Yo! Hey, that's a good idea...blue loctite, huh?...I've never even heard of that...some sort of glue/sealant or something? I'll have to give it try! Thanks! Late! :)

yeah, if you go to walmart or ace hardware, you'll see the different kinds of loctite. Blue loctite is for thread locking purposes. You'll be shocked at how well it fixes your loose screw problem.

Good luck!

Have you tried sticking a screwdriver or something between the clip and the knife/handle itself and use the leverage to unbend/tighten the clip by clamping down on the whole mess with a pair of plyers? I have to do this all the time with my Browning as it can get snagged on something and bend or flip back on itself somewhat. How do you spell plyers??:o Late!

I've got about 30 folders with clips, BM, Spydie, Kabar, CRKT, just to name a few. I have never-ever had any come loose on me, probably because when I get a new knife it goes to the work bench before it sees any pocket duty. I check everything that has threads for proper tightening. Brett's tip on using loctite is a good one, a little dab will do ya:)

I tried bending it back by hand & later with a piece of wood.I don't want to mar up the finish on the cocobolo handles or scratch the damascus blade with a screwdriver or pliers. It wasn't a cheap knife. Thanks for the suggestion though.I'll just have to live with it.

I know that screw looks like you can remove it,but you can't.
It's not really a big deal,I just wear it when I'm wearing jeans.

Yo! That is the exact same pocket clip on my Browning and the same bending also occurs on mine! Yeah, my method definitely has the risk of scuffing the handle...my knives are all pretty much cheapos so I never minded...gives 'em character...In your case I wouldn't risk it unless maybe you could use a cloth buffer or something when applying the clamp/plyer? Late!

hey man,

I think you can remove the wood scale adn then remove the clip. After you do that, you should be able to bend it back in place with a pair of plyers.

I would also suggest getting a clip from STR. His TI clips are AMAZING and will NOT bend.

EDITED: just read where you can't remove. I would send it to STR regardless and I am willing to BET he can fix it up.

Good luck,
Brett

Thanks for the advice.I never thought to remove the scale.I'm pretty sure STR's backed up with enough work, than to bother with my minor pocket clip issues.I think I'm just gonna take the whole knife apart. That pocket clip's gotta come off somehow.

EDIT: I just read a thread that said the clip is integral.

however, you could still remove the scale, insert sometihng between the clip and liner, bend it into shape and then put the scale back on.

Yeah, the biggest problem I have is not screws coming loose, but just snagging the things on door frames and bending the hell out of 'em. On Benchmades and Spydercos it's easy enough to unscrew them and bend them back into shape. The plastic ones won't bend, but I bet they could snap off.

The only problem I have with pocket clips is how long it takes to remove them--I hate them--ruin upholstery, scratch car paint, and tell everyone I've got a knife in my pocket.

thats what I did with my cheapy folder. almost as soon as I bought it the screws holding the clip on started getting loose. every couple of days i had to re-tighten them. got the idea for using loctite from annother site (can't remember where)

I took the clip off my bradley, I just dont like they way they feel when you hold the knife, but I would probably keep it on on say a benchmade where its where a little bit of discomfort would be insignifigant in light of its intended use. Not to mention my favorite benchmade is a little lacking in the grip departmnet, so until I get it sent out for custom scales, my 710 will certainly keep its clip just to get something that can dig into my hands.
