Hello,

New guy here. 1st post. I had been lurking and reading for a while and then finally joined BF recently. I am a no nonsense person and usually gravitate toward utility over looks. Based on the reviews and information here in the BK&T section I ordered and received a BK2 and BK11 a few weeks ago. I had played around with them both and then Friday decided I had to strip them as I did not like the coating. Anyways here are a few photos from Friday, yesterday and today.

Friday I stripped both using CitriStrip. I let them sit about an hour. The BK2 coating stripped off easily. The BK11 was a b#%ch to strip. I left the coating on the handle mostly.

Naked BK2.

After I stripped them I messed around in the yard with them both.

Today I decided to gather some fat lighter to be used at an upcoming hog hunting/ camping trip.

This is the first time I had ever batoned. I got a good bit of fat lighter.

The BK11 was not left out today. Cut my cigar with her!

I did force a patina on both using oranges. I just stuck the BK11 in an orange but paper toweled the BK2 soaked in orange juice. I think I'm going to just put an inner tube on the BK2 to complete the knife. The BK2 does pretty good as a chopper but I can already see a BK9 in my future plans.

Thanks for all the great information you guys (and gals) have accumulated here!

Did you buff out the secondary grind on the BK2? Perfect utility is a beautiful thing, even on a warthog of a knife.

I'm glad you had success with the citristrip, did you use the spray on? I tried using it this past weekend and it was terrible. Btw that 2 looks awesome!

Can we see a picture of the BK 2 Patina? And how long did you leave it wrapped up? I've been trying to find a way to do mine in a way that I like.

there's an aircraft stripper available at autozone that takes off the toughest finishes-if you have issues it might be your ticket.

No, I just stripped it with a plastic scraper and a stripping pad and forced the patina. I like the look of the raw finish, tool marks, etc.....

Yes, I used the spray on. I sprayed some additional stripper on every 15 minutes for an hour. As I said the BK2 coating came off easily but the BK11 required some elbow grease with the stripper pad. I like the way it turned out though; the BK11 looks sort of rustic the way turned out.

I didn't get a picture after I did it..... Right now it's covered in pine pitch. I just wrapped a paper towel around it soaked in orange juice for about an hour or so. When I get home today I'll clean it up and hopefully the patina is showing.

Welcome to the Becker Forum and Bladeforums, glad you joined us.

You have two great knives there, Bill, and it looks like they got a wonderful master. Thanks for posting up an stick around, always nice to have a new voice in the choir.

That BK2 really turned out nicely--great job! I agree, the BK11 looks rustic with the traces of finish around the handle--again, great job!

Here's the best picture I could get of the BK2. Not a fancy patina but kind of a mottled subdued look.

The BK11 turned out more interesting.
