my psk, pros, cons, what should i change?

The only thing I can say is if this is your PSK and the whole point of having this is actually having it on you when you go out, etc. Is that its a little bit big. You will tend to not want to carry this if its to awkward or inconvenient to carry. That is why most choose the tin as it fits in your pocket, sure you cant fit all that in there, its for the bare necessities only so it has to be small and compact. You need a second level bag or kit for the other stuff, more of a get home bag or bug out bag.

I think your on the right path, but PSK means small , convenient and always with you with just enough stuff to get you by in a pinch.

This is more of a SHTF kit then a PSK. A psk is just for wilderness survival.

I am going to give you my input, and everyone will have different ideas for what is important... as long as you know how to use the items in your kit, and they work for you in a survival situation.

Few things I noticed:
1. Sutures - there are very, very few situations that sutures are needed in a survival situation. Pressure, Elevation and Tape/bandaids will take care of almost all cuts. Infection is what you need to worry about. If you feel you need to have sutures in your kit get a few from your Dr. Parents, Sewing kit needles will not work!
2. I believe ear plugs would be more dangerous than helpful, due to not being able to hear what is going on in your surroundings.
3. Switch out the RubberBands on your PSK with "Ranger Bands"
4. Drink mixes.. make sure there is no Vitamin C in your KoolAid "It was found that soft drink mixes containing Vitamin C destroys the germicidal properties of the tablets" or you can wait until tablets have done their duty and then add the Drink Mix.
5. Honey and Salsa. IMO by the time you are eating Rat, it will taste Great!
6. Do you know how to pick a lock? I would think a rock or heavy object would be more effective at "Picking a Lock"
7. Add Duct Tape wrapped around your pencil.

These are just my suggestions, and I only posted cause you asked! My PSK and BOB changes every Month!

Good Luck

great start, but I have a few thoughts.
add a bandanna, good for bandaging and about as good as your thin medical mask, also replaces the coffee filters. is your cool-aid sweetened?
might want to test the strength of your thread, also cotton thread is not a good plan for sutures, major infection risk, super glue works better than sutures, as you close the entire wound as opposed to just closing part of it. a better alternative may be steri-strips.
be careful that the condiment pouches don't start to leak.
Really good start, the key is to use it, find its weaknesses and strengths.
Is this to add to your EDC gear, or is it for just for wilderness trips?
