Howdy Folks,
I just finished a documentary short that I filmed in 2007 at the Puma shop in Solingen, Germany. It shows how the white hunter was designed and how it is made today. It also has a short interview with the designer, Heinz-Peter Knoop.

You can see it on You Tube at this link:

...or you can go to You Tube and do a search on "worldknives".

I'd appreciate any feedback and I hope this will prove to be interesting to fellow knife nuts.

Thanks!

Chris

I was disappointed to see that it was a blade blank polishing and handle attachment video, but enjoyed it nonetheless. It looked like the knife was actually 75% finished when they let you start your documentary.

I think it would have been a bit better with a little commentary or narration. For most of us, this was easy to understand. But for those that don't make knives or understand that "platoon style" of manufacture, it could be difficult.

I am thinking of a light narration as on the show "How It's Made".

Thanks for the professional video!

I've been hooked on the old Puma's since first seeing them at Abercrombie & Fitch when it was still a sporting outfitter.

I just watched it after reading the Tactical Knives article on the knife. I've always(~20 yrs now) wanted one. Maybe now's the time to get one. I read here on Bladeforums that the old blade steel was better than current production.

Wow... $300+ for the White Hunter!!! The price has definitely gone up compared to 10 years ago. I'll pass... For that money I can get a custom or semi-custom(Bark River, etc.). :(

Thanks for posting that. I've still got the White Hunter my dad carried in Vietnam. However, because of that the sheath is in pretty bad shape, the blade has some pitting on one side, and the serrations were long since sharpened off. Still a great knife though.

Thanks for all the hard work. I've enjoyed two of the videos so far. Not everyone will ever get the chance to see factories or listen to owners talk about their company history.
