I purchased a Queen stockman with abalone scales from cumberland knife works last month and really liked it. Very good experience all around - nice knife and nice person to purchase from.

Then, after about a week I noticed a small dark brown patch forming in one of the scales and I do mean forming. It was not there when it arrived and it appeared to be growing. Knowing the good reputation of Queen's customer service I called them up (toll free, even) and they said to send the knife in so they could take a look at it. They assured me that the worse possible outcome would be a replacement.

They ended up replacing it and it is even nicer than the original, and no signs of discoloration forming. The scales have a visual depth that changes remarkably in different lighting conditions and from different angles. It is beyond me how they mirror polish the D2 blades, but they have, and the bolsters and pins are nickle-silver. The final nice touch is the brass used for dividers.

The knife is a realy beauty and now that each blade has been reprofiled and sharpened to 30 degrees on the sharpmaker it is also an astonishingly effective cutting tool. It also never fails to get OOHs and WOWs whenever I use it.

I have not seen many of these around on the web for sale, and believe me that the photos on the www.queencutlery.com web site do not do it justice, which is sad because it is such a nice piece but on the other hand OK because it makes mine a little more special and unique.
