It seems more and more sellers on eBay are switching to padded envelope shipping and I've had trouble with knife boxes arriving crushed and crumpled. It has gotten to the point where I now request the seller of every auction I win that I would like boxed shipping or in the case of small items to simply take the knife out of the box and fold it flat. I'm willing to pay for good shipping. Even with requesting this with every seller, I have received 4 knives this past week shipped in envelopes and the knife boxes arriving crushed. One idiot even shipped me a large boxed Buck 620 this week in an envelope. You can imagine how badly that arrived.... What to do? I'm sick about it.

Pay with Paypal and inform the shipper that if they ship your item any other way than what you requested and it arrives damaged, you will return it despite their return policy and dispute the charge with Paypal and your credit card company. I've had them charge 8.00 and send it in a priority box that is free and say the rest is for shipping material. 3.00 for crumpled up newspaper, come on, really!

I here what you are saying. I have had some very nice LE's (2) the sellers shipped inside uncommon wood/plastic displays.:o:( the knives broke out the back side of the display case's, both of these case's can never be used now. At least one of the seller's should have known better as they sell & ship hundreds of knives. Also, had a 110 shipped in a priority shipper with the blade locked open.....the blade had popped through the side during shipment:eek:.

My worst experience.....I bought a vintage 110 that came in the period two piece yellow box last year. The seller thought he was packaging it up really well. He did....it was packaged very nicely with no chance of any damage. The problem was that he securely taped the two piece vintage box so it wouldn't open. That pretty much ruined the box when I took the tape off.

Ya I got one the other day and when I saw the envelope I was concerned the box was going to be crushed, fortunately it wasn't.

Recently had an experience similar to Stumps... seller taped the box TO the small priority box, then sealed it up with no padding  the knife rattled around inside the whole way to me !
Some folks just don't understand how to pack things ...
