I wanted to share my RAT collection so far. Yes, it includes knives from the "other" maker of RAT knives, but they're still Jeff's designs. Keep up the good work

(yes, I stuck the RC-3's belt clip on the RC-4)

Nice collection, and I think it is safe to say that we are all waiting for the HEST!

Jake: I plan on getting one very soon.
I think a lot of people really like the RAT Cutlery knives but hate the Ontarios by the same designer because of politics (yes, I know what happened). Both RAT variations are great knives designed by the same guy; just because RAT is making their own knives now doesn't make the Ontarios any less great than they were before RAT came along. Sorry for the brief rant :grumpy:

But I agree; I need the entire RAT line. The only Ontario RAT knife that I'd like RAT Cutlery to make is the RTAK. I'm waiting patiently for the HEST. I tried to pre-order one from my local knife dealer, but he can't even get them yet. I guess I'll have to use the HEST money to get an RC-5, then use part of my next paycheck for the HEST. Glad my daughter is into knives as well or I'd feel bad about buying so many, but she has two Izulas of her own (pink and black).

I really like those sheaths on the Rat-5 and Rat-7, are those aftermarket or did they come with the knives when you bought them? I'm looking for a similar sheath for my RC-6 and the Kydex it came with has yet to grow on me

Everything shown (except for the lanyards) is how it came from the factory.

Kinda have to agree with you.

I had a RAT-3 that was my do it all fixed blade and I loved it. I much prefer my RC's now but at the time, it worked and worked well.

I have heard of some issues with the heat treat on some of the later versions but a bad batch can happen to anyone, it's all about how you handle it after the problems.

I had every Ontario RAT knife made and 2 RAT7's and I sold /traded them off not because it was a bad knife but due to the politics and I had to move something to buy all the RC blades. Out with the old in with the New type thing. LOL :D but one thing I never cared for about the ontario versions was the phosphate coating..man that sucked....IMO ;)
