My recent visit to Lynn's website seems to show less movement there.

So, I checked out Lynn Thompson's Never Unarmed website, and it seems that just about all the actual knife/sword/weapon type goods that he previously had up, are now gone.
In other words, instead of it progressively having more to offer, it actually has almost nothing to offer, (except for some promotional gear).
I wonder where he is headed with this?
He previously had the 1917 Cutlass on there, and that had me a wee bit confused. I mean, the 1917 Cutlass is, or at least was, a Cold Steel product. Maybe CS has fully discontinued that model, and Lynn simply decided to pick it up for his own new company's line, but now it has gone POOF, gone.
That's just one of the goods that were on his site that were previously a CS item, and now he too has removed.
Hmm, again.... I do wonder what his game plan is.

On a related note, I don't believe that CS still had the 1917 Cutlass in their 2021 catalog, but I still seen being offered in various places online throughout the 2021 year. I wonder if they were remaining inventory, or if the 1917 Cutlass has even been discontinued at all. I think ot was one of Lynn's first swords that he offered. Although they named it the 1917 Navy Cutlass, it was more of a direct reproduction of the Dutch Klewang sword, which the actual Navy's 1917 Cutlass was based on. In any case, Cold Steel's 1917 Cutlass was not the fanciest of Cold Steel's swords, but was one of their most solid/robust offerings, and CS sold it for many years.
One of the reasons it is/was so robust, is that it's design, like the original Dutch Klewangs and Navy's 1917 Cutlass', incorporated a full length/full with tang.

I have been regularly been visiting Lynn Thompson's 'Never Unarmed' website, caused by my curiosity for what he's got going on over there 👍😆👍

BTW... I just went to Cold Steel's website to make sure that I wasn't wrong about them no longer carrying the 1917 Cutlass, and sure enough, I did not see it anywhere on their page.
Still, online vendors continue to offer them and even allow for them to be backordered. Hmm?

There might be supply chain problems for some of the items like swords.

Early last year I went to the Cheness Cutlery website to look at their swords and they had a notice that due to COVID issues they were not manufacturing any new swords and would only be able to sell those in stock. IIRC the factory in China shut down due to the lockdown and was unlikely to be able to be reopened. I immediately ordered the Tenchi Ko Katana I was putting off buying and shortly after I had it they were out of stock.

The last time I checked their site Kris Cutlery announced that they would no longer sell swords and knives aside from occasional antiques, but they've been cutting back on products for years already.

That's great explanation why nearly all CS swords are made in china :^)))

The Japanese and Chinese pattern swords from Cold Steel are made in China.

Most of their other swords are made in India, most likely by Windlass Steelcrafts.

There is at least one sword that they now make in Taiwan.

I have an India made CS Polish Saber, and an India made CS 1917 Cutlass.

My India made CS Cinquedea is supposedly a long dagger, but... If it can be considered a short sword, than it's 3 India made CS swords that I own.

Are you saying Lynn sold that company off already too?
Yes, year ago !!

I wonder if the "Hidden Angel " balisong ever got to market or ever will ?

Never Unarmed released the Maasai Spear, and I am tempted. I wanted one when CS put it out in the early 90s, but I had no money for such things then. The NU model is less fancy, but is in stock at a reputable website I've bought from before.

When I spoke with Cold Steel last year about the Cold Steel Outdoorsman Lite, they told me that if it was removed the Cold Steel website, it has been discontinued. So if the 1917 Cutlass is no longer on Cold Steel's website, it's a goner...

Wasn't it rumored that Lynn Thompson's wife is battling cancer? If that's the case, then it would explain a lot of things and very sad if it's true. I believe they have been together for a very long time but I could be wrong.

They may be retooling the website to reflect a change in their offerings. Rumor has it that the polearms will be offered without the shafts. The Hidden Angel may yet appear as a Cold Steel product. Remember the pictures that showed the Hidden Angel with a Cold Steel logo on the blade?

I ordered the Cold Steel Maasai spear from Warriors and Wonders in Vancouver about a week ago, and it arrived yesterday ... looking just fine in a sharp-looking and sturdy Never Unarmed box. It's even better than I expected. I am a huge fan of the Cold Steel Spetsnaz shovels ... I have two myself and have given three as gifts ... and the spear is made with the same quality and attention to detail.

Now I can walk down the back lane, and fear no lion.

A tiny question ... the box contained two little packets of screws ... one with three small/medium sized screws (obviously for attaching the shoe and the blade) but the second contained two obviously-smaller screws of the same design. Does anybody have any idea of what they may be used for?

Just curious ... would that happen to be Warriors and Wonders, in Vancouver? I just got mine from there.

The Never Unarmed website is only offering 1911 magazines, grips, and clothing. Nothing else. Very strange.

There's a couple different online retailers, both out of the midwest, that have a bunch of Never Unarmed stuff in stock - spearheads, halbred, spoontoon, etc. It seemed like Never Unarmed had a run of stuff earlier in the year - I remember seeing all of that on Never Unarmed website in the winter, I think - but maybe it was longer ago than that.

Never Unarmed has a YouTube channel - there's some good old fashioned Lynn Thompson videos in there, some uploaded as recently as a month ago. The LeeFist Martial Arts YouTube channel also has a good series of videos focusing on the short handled Assegai spears.

All that being said, I probably ought to hurry up and order a Tiger Fork in case the coyotes storm the chicken coop again. Don't know what else I could do to prepare for that...
