Hi all, I saw one of these about 3 years ago
at a gun show and now own one and was just wondering if it is a true factory item or did
some other company do the pured color after-
market? If its true factory whats the model #
and are they rare, for I've only seen mine and the one at the gun show and both were/are
serrated so is that the only way theycome???
Thanks, Todd

Todd1 I have red one but mine is a plain edged bought at a gun show they said it was popular with skiers so they could find them in the snow when dropped!

Hi guys, the story I hear about these knives was that one of the larger knife distributors had these done (think blue ridge??), they are not a factory item. Hope this answers your question.

I think Jay is correct. You might want to do a search in the Spyderco archives, because I know this came up before. I know that Sal said in the one of the old threads that it was not done by Spyderco.

Yeah, I think they're right. If I recall correctly it was done because the newer models were coming out with the ATS-55 and reversible pocket clips, so the distributor had the handles colored to move the older models.

Mayor McCheese got the whole scenario correctly, and Jyork even got the right distributor

They are not rare(although there were not all that many done), and last time I looked, they were in fact still available from BRK (guess they didn't sell as good as they would have liked).

There were both Endura and Rescue models done like this.
