My reflections on the Blade show

This years Blade show was the best ever for me, it had to do with a lot of different things. The people, the energy and excitement all combined to make the Blade show one of my favorite things to do.

I'm never going to be able to remember every one of the great acquaintances I made and renewed so I won't attempt it. It's a corny thing to say but the thing I really enjoy about the Blade show is the people I meet, and I truly appreciate being able to do that.

One thing that made this years Blade show better for me is moving over to the ABS section and having been a member of Blade Forums. I have no way of knowing for sure but everyone over in the ABS section must be regular contributing members of Blade Forums and it was a pleasure to meet in person the people we talk to everyday on the Forum.

My closest neighbors at the show were Butch Sheely (award winner for his Bowie) and Rick Marchand, both a pleasure to spend the weekend with.

Another thing that made this show great was having my wife with me, she is the better part of me. It also allowed me to finally have a look around the show, I didn't get to meet everyone I wanted to but I got to meet a lot more of them.

My apologies to Murray White that I did not have a table full of knives that he could choose from. I would truly love to be able to sell him one, but I gotta say, another thing that made this show the best for me was, I did not have a table full of knives that I HAD to sell. The pressure was off and it made the show much more enjoyable for me. After all, the shows are for the makers too. Murray, I promise to do better next year and in the mean time, please let me know if I can do anything for you. It was really nice to meet you.

I did take orders from two other collectors and I am pleased that I was even on their radars. I am humbled and will do my best for them.

My 19-2011 Combat Survivor knives seemed to be a big hit, thank you to everyone that stopped by and said nice things about them.

I was not able to get around to meet everyone I wanted to, I regret I did not get to attend the CKCA meeting as my flight came in too late on Thursday. I really wanted to get by and meet all of you there. Kevin, I'm sorry I kept missing you at the booth, I will be sure make the meeting next year.

I also regret that I took no pictures, next year I will.

All in all, a great show. I will be doing it again next year for sure, and will be watching for Blade West if they ever do that again.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Journeyman and Master smiths, well done.

Thanks to everyone that helped make my Blade show the best. Mark

Mark, I enjoyed meeting you and your wife . . . keep up the great work. Maybe next year Murray will have to fight me for one of your knives!

Like you I have more people I missed talking to than I wish. That's the nature of Blade if you are a Tableholder or Boardroom-holder.

Your wife is charming and friendly. Name: Angel?

Thanks Mark. Glad we had a moment to gladhand, and I appreciate you swinging by.

Yep, Nice to see you guys again. Yes, she is Angel. I have some shooting I need you to do but there is no hurry so I didn't put it with your already overwhelming Blade Show stuff. Let me know when you get caught up and I will send it down.

Talk to you again soon Coop.

Mark, I am ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY, COMPLETELY GLAD I met you. Just sorry that the knife I wanted was sold - but thanks for taking my order! It is just too cool a piece, as is the maker.

Best,

Bob

You are far too kind, the pleasure is mine. Thank you.

Mark, It was a real pleasure to finally get at least a few moments of "face time". Too bad you live so far away....
Thanks also for the great handle material. I'll keep you posted on it's use.
Oh, and the 1911's were really cool!

Adam.

Mark.... it was a great show... second only to the good people I had the opportunuty to meet. You and Angel were both a pleasure to talk and laugh with. As for your knives.... what can I say, brother?... IMPRESSIVE, INSPIRATIONAL come to mind for starters. You have some of the most creative handle material designs I have ever seen... and the fact that you can pull of a sheath package to compliment them showed me that you are a true artist, sir. I hope to meet you in person again, next year.... see you on the forums!

Hello Mark, it was a pleasure to meet you and your wife in person sun morning. It was very nice to see your handles and how you piece them together.I will put that blue mammoth and musk ox to good use.:D

Good to meet you and the wife. I was totally impressed by the story of the "Oak" from the north sea.

Very impressive stuff. Your handles are not from this earth. Iz you a spaceman? :)

Goof to meet you Mark! Looking forward to seeing some "for sale" knives next time. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Here visiting friends and reading BFC stuff. Good to see all the comments about the show. It was fun and busy and I sure missed the 2 hours removed from Sunday. Wish I had more time to see things and do photos too. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the crowds were good.
