hey all, i finally had the time and the stars were in alignment and i finished my rehandle job:D Big carbon steel tramontina bowie had it as a kid, it had seen better days and had long since parted with the fake stag plastic handle, etc. After a few false starts and catastrophes on this project i finally got going on it and finished it up, along the way i rehandled the old dunlap cattle knife that was my gramps knife, the scales on it had completely melted? Gassed out i suppose.

Both knives have bloodwood now, and are usable again:thumbup:
in hind sight the handle on the bowie is rather plain but it suits me and fits my hand well, the guard is a medium, maybe should have gone with the large dunno, all things considered im pleased with it and it gave me a hands on appreciation for any of you guys that do this as a hobby or for a living, my hats off to you. And thank you to all the helpful people ive encountered here.
thank you
ivan "the long winded"
p.s. Be gentle on the critiques:D

got the bloodwood from texas knifemakers, the old slippie has the best looking of the wood i got but i'm happy with both! I screwed up the first block for the bowie so that became the slippie material, some good came out of it i suppose. and yes satisfied indeed and happy to have the bowie done. Think i'll do more slippies i had alot of fun with it!
thanks
ivan

i think i did alright for my first stab at it, dunno if im gonna try it again for awhile, the bowie gave me all kinda fits, trial by fire i suppose
im thinking i'll rehandle my camillus fishermans luck since the scales are pulling up and away and its not exactly a choice speciman of the pattern, gotta lot of life left in it though
