Very nice, that is one bad ass blade. Are the two parallel straps functional?

Yes they are. They are for securing to a pack, a 4 wheeler, or whatever. Definitely and over built sheath as promised.

Sweeeet!!!

Killer combo, Cleaner! Thanks for posting the pics.

Yes indeed! That is one sweeet piece of leather that you've got there, Cleaner!

(My RM is still wearing a cardboard/duct tape POS that I made for it... :( )

Cleaner, any chance of a pic of the spine? Dwayne's website says it is a very overbuilt sheath and it would be nice to see the thickness of the sheath as compared to the blade. Thanks.

The blade covering portion of the sheath alone is 3/4" thick, it appears to be six layers deep. It goes out to just short a full inch with the attachment layers. Dwayne was not exaggerating when he claimed "overbuilt", this thing is a tank. I believe you can see the layers of Kydex which are surrounded by leather on both sides.

OH MY    !!! That is a sheath worthy of a Swamp Rat / Busse. Nice work Dwayne.

Awesome Blade and Sheath!

Great work by Dwayne, as usual.

Wow- that is gorgeous!!!

This is my first introduction to the leather/kydex combo. Have a Kydex for my Rat Hunter. Love the functionality of the kydex- just don't like the "feel". To me leather just feels the way a sheath should feel. This is the perfect fusion of both.

I think your combo is one of the sexiest non female things I have seen. I put it up there with some of the finest European automobiles and some choice motorcycles.

Thanks for sharing, Cleaner145, that was a treat. It also gives me a great option I did not know existed, for when I buy a fine pair of pants in the future.

Dwayne posts as Leatherman. He is the man behind Armoralleather.com.

BTW, that sheath is a fearsome beast.

I've got a bunch of knives planned for the next 10 months. After that, maybe I can get my hands on something suitable for a sheath like that, maybe a FBM?

checked him out- thanks. He has some great looking stuff.

Maybe you guys can show some more pics of "Rats with Pants" for this and other newbies. I have a Ratweiler on order and would love to learn about the other sheath options I have.

Are there older threads on this I should know about? or places to educate myself? Maybe cleaner145 should start a new thread of rats in their pants and this beauty would lead it off.

As a newbie, I really appreciate the advice and knowledge you guys bestow on those of us wanting to educate ourselves on quality products that do not rely on mass marketing and gimmicks. From this forum I have been educated on Swamp Rat, Busse (if I am allowed to say that name here- if not, sorry to offend), and other companys like "Buy Brown" and now "Armoralleather". I like hearing the advice of "users"; instead of some hired celebrity telling me some product is "swell". -- Maybe a tangent, but thought it should be said. Thanks Guys, and yes Jennifer- Gals

Mayfly - Welcome aboard ! This is actually my first Rat with aftermarket pants on. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my RW. I usually go with a Kydex sheath only because I go camping off my 4 wheeler. That means anything not in a plastic bag arrives wet since the Everglades is a swamp. I often have to clear a trail and I keep a chopper strapped to my front rack just for this purpose and kydex doesn't retain the moisture. But if you are in the market for a leather one I can't say enough about Dwayne's work. :)

Ok, I have to ask.

**Dumb question warning!**

What is the purpose using kydex in a leather sheath? Does the kydex add strenght to the sheath? Or is it just to protect the inside of the sheath?

Well I believe it adds a tremendous amount of rigidity as well as adding strength to the overall package. The Kydex is completely surrounded by leather so it will not scratch or leave marks on the blade.

I'm having Dwayne make some pants for my RM as well. what color leather is that ? Thanks.

It's a rich dark brown color. The more I use/handle it, the more I appreciate how good a job Dwayne did.
