  I was really looking forward to seeing this cut. I love the design. I hate the feeling/sound when it goes PING!! when you're quenching it. Trying to forge and grind another one in time, but it will be rough if I get it done at all........ :grumpy: I may just temper this poor thing and bring along for some destructive testing.

Ahh crap Ed, that stinks big time!
What makes em crack when being quenched?
I never have understood that.

Thanks guys. I've been quenching in olive oil for years with good results. I think I just ground this thing too thin before heat treat. Im leaving them thickerer from now on. I did temper it and may bring it anyway. I didn't have wide enough stock to duplicate the prifile on my second attempt knife. Speaking of which......I should be grinding right now. See ya Saturday!

It was really thin Ed but, since it went through the first quench, I thought it would go on OK. Hell bring it and do it anyway. You'll probably out cut us all. :D You never know.

Damn
I'd be real tempted to take my stick welder to that, grind her smooth and call it some new kind of damascus ;)

Well I got the second edition rope knife done last night about 1 am. At my sister in law's in Worchester tonight. Should be there bright and early. I brought the cracked blade, we'll sharpen it up and see what it'll do.
