The Spyderco VG-10 SPOT. Just getting used to this knife which I had ignored for too long.
I decided to add this neck knife to the family. So far I had it 2 days and cut myself drawing from the sheath. Just need to remember to draw using the hole. Band-aid fixed that.
I also broke the scale doing something stupid, SuperGlue fixed that.
Its well on its way to becoming my favorite working blade
So, I think this is really a terrific blade. A well designed grip + stubby blade= lots of leverage to cut and slash. Very easy to control compared to a longer blade. The neck configuration is very comfortable, but I mounted a mini tek loc and carry on my belt. Its unobtrusive, non threatening and low profile.
The blade shape makes skinning electrical wires easy as well as picking out splinters.
Very precise powerful blade. Cant beat a fixed blade for durability and ?lock? strength and speed.

Aloha Nugget!

Damn man...WE might be brothers! LOL! Check out my SPOT Rig on the "TRUE" Spyderco Forum...trippy man, as I too am running a mini-Tek Lok on mine! Lemme know if we are on the "same page" regarding the way it is mounted to the sheath!

God bless!

I was remiss not to have given credit where credit is due. I was inspired by your post in the Spyderco forum. I thought the angle you used was perfect. I greatly admire the cord wrap on your little beast too. Since I am lacking on such skills, I took the easy way out and Plasti Dipped the grip. I'll email you a pic if you wish.
Best

I am honored to have elicited a response from you.
I envy your talents and determination to produce such art from steel. Always looking to see what new items are coming out of Spyderco. Since becoming a knife knut many years ago, I have a proud collection of various brands. Since giving my wife a Native, she has become infected with Spyderitus, craving more and more. Yesterday I received the 2005 Spyderco catalog and my wife. 2 daughters and myself were knocking heads paging through it together and making a wish list. I (we) have 4 Natives, a Moran, 2 Ladybugs, 2 Jesters, Ronin and the SPOT. Wife wants a Harpy and Catcherman, Girls want the Sazbofly, Karambit, Schempp Persian folder and (yikes!) the Keating Chinoock II. They like the upswept blade shape. See, you are high fashion!
Keep them coming
Regards

Scott

Thanx Scott. Appreciate the kind words and support.

The "girls" have good taste. ;)

Aloha nugget!

Wow...so ya rigged your SPOT like mine? Cool, and bro, it wasn't necessary to give me "credit". :D I think after examining the possibilities with the SPOT sheath, you'd have eventually done the same yourself, thus not limiting this fine knife simply to neck carry! Now...if I can only find an industial strength safety pin that'll go through that tube on the sheath...

Hey there Sal!!! Hope you are doing well and regards to the rest of the crew!

God bless guys!

Sal, please re-consider the discontinuation of the SPOT. I know it has been out for a while, but it needs a good 5 years to catch on. It's just ahead of its time! (wishful thinking)

Aloha J.Davey!!!

I totally agree with you! The SPOT hasn't been out long enough!!! Did it even have an ad? Diff. blade shapes, i.e: Hawksbill, wharnie, "dragfonfly"...*drool*.

God bless! ;)

Daywalker, I actually suggested the different blades and a slightly longer standard blade in a thred a while back. It is the SPOT's handles ergos that really make it such great little knife. Sal wanted to hear people's opinions about this idea, but not too many people jumped in. I guess we're two of only a few that own and love the design, unfortunately.

Aloha J.Davey!

I think I recall that thread! Yup. the ergo's are great handle-wise. Also, re-sheathing is a literal snap, now that I have it belt rigged. Simply locate the open end of the sheath, once you know the blade is in somewhat, place thumb in ring, index and middle finger on the "tube" section of the sheath, and *pinch*! It's in!!!

If Sal were to go any longer blade-wise, would it resemble too much Szabo's version of that knife he had out before...darn, I can't remember what they were called...UUK's? Something like that...

Anyway, still agree with ya J.Davey! God bless! ;)
