Hello everybody,

I have equipped my Victorinox with a Mini Survival Fire Kit, thought it may interest someone.

I carry a mini ferro rod with my Victorinox. For the Mini Survival Fire Kit I need just some 15 cm of cord. The ferro rod is also tied to the knife with some 15 cm of the same cord

Now, I wrap the cord all around the corkscrew, this way

At the end, you have this

Well, when I need for a fire starter, I just untie the cord from the corkscrew…

…and fray a bit the cord, like this

The cord is a great fire starter, just a shot with my ferro rod and it ignite for roughly 30 sec

The piece of cord wrapped around the corkscrew and the piece of cord that link the ferro rod to the SAK allows me to ignite two fires. I’m still working about this idea, I’ll take you updated.

Kindest regards,
AD

I like it! I do something similar with my Kabar BK13. I wrap the handle with jute, and tie a ferro rod to the sheath.

That's pretty cool, however I have a few questions...Do you carry this in your pocket? How do you keep it dry?
Thanks for sharing!
