Anyone have any idea how many of these were made?
Steril, satin finish, black paper, 3/16".
I really love this knife and swore I'd never part with it, but the more I look at the SAR8 ...

that's a very nice jack, i'd keep it if it was me. those are getting hard to come by.

Nobody knows how many were made, probably not even Jerry. They are relatively hard to find, and certainly will always be more difficult to find than the SAR 8. Many folks like the fact that its rare and will advise you to keep it, but if it's not for you, I say pass it along to someone who will appreciate it more. I had one myself that I sold sometime back and have no regrets whatsoever. It just wasn't what I wanted.

Don't listen to these hogs. They are a tricky lot.

Tell you what.

I will order a Sar8 for you and trade. I won't even charge you the difference in price........since I am such a giver!!!

In other words, you would be able to buy a couple different knives if you sold that one for what it was worth!!!

There weren't as many made as you see in offerings nowadays, in the fact that there were a hell of lot less people buying Busse back then. It looks like it's in pretty good shape and being sterile will probably add to it's value. Just do a bit of research using the search function in this forum and the for sale forum before you decide anything. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you want to move it on for a SAR-8 and then some.
The SAR-8 is pretty much a modern version of the original Jack, just bigger in it's proportions with a few bells and whistles added.
Good luck with it. A.

Don't listen to him!! ... I already got one sitting here brand new and waitin' for a new owner. So...even trade?? ;);) :D LOL

Seriously, Check his post carefully, 'cause he's right, and as much as I'd like to relieve you of the burden of owning a Satin Jack ;), you really ought to keep that beauty.

I'd gladly buy it for the price of a SAR8, but I wouldn't be at all shocked if a collector was willing to pay twice that.

The first thing I'd do with the thing is baton it through a log, so it seems a bit silly to pay collector prices to do something like that ;)

Keep it and get the SAR8 when you have enough funds for it.

That model SJ is probably one of the best knives to EVER come out of the Busse shop!

That's a nice one ... I love the SAR8, but I wouldn't trade that for one. That said, I'd trade you my SAR8 LE for it! :D
