I won this 752 in a GAW from
seas165
thank you again! And at first I wasn’t sure because it isn’t quite my style. Not so good for whittling in other words. But I love schrade history, and the history of the industrial revolution. And never having had an example of this pattern or style I figured I could at least try it before making a decision.
So I got it and started playing with it. It appears unused. The first thing I noticed is it is slim and long enough though that it fits me okay.
Then I noticed the small blade, when closing, sometimes would catch its kick on the tip of the large blade. I thought this through carefully and decided I could remedy that with careful tuning. It closes as it should now and without altering the knife in a way a collector would be able to tell.
Anyways. I was setting there thinking about it and I was kinda comparing it to my late moms half Congress. And then it dawned on me. Mom would love this little knife.
I imagined saying, I’m not sure what I think about it, that I might regift it on the knife forum one day. Then I could nearly hear mom saying “don’t do that, it’s a neat little knife, if you don’t want it, I’ll take it”. That’s just the way mom would have ended up with it too if she was still here. She would have eyed it, and how could I have resisted gifting it to her? So I fell in love with it because I know mom would have loved it. It’s slimness, it’s size, it’s useful for all the things an old lady would do. And it’s a schrade, and that means quality. So I in a way imagine it as moms knife now. It’s coming up on a year since mom passed, and I’ve been thinking a lot of her. I just thought I’d share, thanks for listening to a sentimental rambling post.
Post script. I got all teary eyed and forgot to ask.
Can anyone tell me what year range was this tang stamp from?
I assume it’s carbon steel?
