Yes! I was out of all other oils so I used some crisco vegtable oil on the handle after slimming it down with 200 grit sandpaper.... It actually turned out nicely..... Cool:thumbup:

I wouldn't use vegetable oils for handles or for long term storage.
Over time it may turn rancid. If your handle starts to smell like wet cardboard, stale or rotten vegetables, you'll know it wasn't such a good idea after all.

LOL Really? OOoops my bad. I did wash it off after about an hour or so... If it smells like rotten vegies then I will call it "Blade of Onion"

the blade of onion sounds potent indeed-- but if you clean and seal with a better oil i bet it is ok !
