You don't have to excuse my poor photography. My photos stink, but I can't hear the criticism over the roaring awesomeness of this blade:

I put an order in almost a year ago for this puppy after getting the go-ahead to spend my bonus check on a nice knife. Figured to get something far beyond nice instead and already had a knife from Phillip.

Just spent a few moments dancing around the basement like a complete imbecile with this blade lamenting the fact that it's way too late and nothing in the basement needed several hundred chops or even one. The balance is slightly ahead of the handle, but the blade feels very light and able to move by thought alone.

Because I just removed the protective shipping coating tonight, I didn't want to wash the oil off the blade, so the specs aren't exact and the calipers stayed in their case:

Overall length: 15"
Blade length: 10"
Edge length: 9"
Thickness at spine: < 0.25"
Width of blade: 2.5"
Steel: Carpenter R.D.S. L6
Scales: black canvass micarta
Sheath: Leather

The sheath is what I think should be called a "Midwest Comfort." Told Phillip I wanted a stuf instead of a belt loop so I could throw the sheath on and off my belt with ease or tuck inside my waistband if needed. He asked if I wanted it to be a little secure or loose. Don't know why; maybe because this knife was conceived for chopping stationary targets and not hunting large game (a Funnoodle and fallen tree slayer); I said secure was good. So in the mail, I get this W I D E pancake sheath with a Saran-wrapped Patton field knife. Wow! Tonight, I wearing it in my belt and in my britches and Wow! It's very handy.

I want to thank Phillip Patton for letting me be a repeat customer and for this massive and massively awesome blade.

Nice snag there, Thom. Now go out and chop some of those branches in the yard that were damaged by all that snow you got.

Now that's what I call a glowing report! Thank you sir! I hope the knife serves you well and long. :)
I am a little confused though. What's a "booboo snipper"? Or do I want to know? :D

I was a little worried that the sheath would be too wide to fit in your belt comfortably. How is it?

Thanks for being a good customer, Thom!

What's a "booboo snipper"?

My daughter's name for all edged tools. Started with scissors and carried on to jackknives.

I was a little worried that the sheath would be too wide to fit in your belt comfortably. How is it?

It fits fine between the beltloops of my dungarees and inside the waistband, too, but I'll probably be bugging you for a thinner one after Blade or hitting up my usual leather sheath guy for the same. It's very well made, holds the blade with just the right amount of tension, and works, so I'm quite happy with it.

Thanks for being a good customer, Thom!

Thanks for making it so easy, Phillip!

I have two pieces from phillip, one ordered one second market. I LOVE them both, they cut great and they feel good in the hand. I am actually lookin at placing an order for one of his hunters in M4 (yes phillip, I think I'll pay for it) as they just look real comfortable to use.

Very nice blade that I am sure will serve you well. It sure looks like it wants to chop stuff.

Everything Mr. Patton makes looks pretty awesome to me.

Enjoy your fine, hand-made knife, sir!

[I am, however, hoping Mr. Patton can come up with a slightly more marketing-friendly monicker than "booboo snipper" for this model.]

That's my daughter's term for it. She'll be five next month, so we'll work on marketing then. I'll see if "vorpalocity" can be added as an attribute descriptor.
