Earlier this week I bought my first case: the yellow peanut cv. Then I decided to buy one for my brother, whose done a lot of work for me on my heating unit. Well, I couldn't pass up the pocket worn red baby butterbean. I am starting to get obsessed with case knives. These are the dealer's pics. My butterbean is much nicer looking than the one pictured.

I know how you feel---as of Nov '07 I never owned a Case knife in my life----I now own 5------4 CV Trappers(I just like Trappers) and 1 SS Mini Copperlock.

Of all the American mfrs., Case is my favorite. I've seen some old ones (1940's, 1950's) at gun shows that looked and felt perfect. Their quality today is not equal to what it was decades ago, but I'd choose a Case over anything else. They're still better than 90% of what's out there, IMHO.

thx - cpr

I have already ordered my third! A orange g-10 tiny trapper I found on clearance at shepard hills cutlery online.

Welcome to the fun.
I am like a few others who posted. I had some Case knives when I was younger but moved to modern folders long ago. In September I bought a old red bone baby butterbean on impulse at a Bass Pro Shop while on a business trip.
Since then I have bought 4 other Case knives in CV as well as a few Buck, Schrade USA and some old inexpensive Imperials; all slip joints.
I even buy old slip joints with broken blades at the flea market and bring them home to my "retirement home for old users". The "old users" get a little cleaning (not too much just the "gunk") and then are given a place on my knick-knack shelves to while away their years.

billym - do what I do: Take those "old users" out for a day on the town occasionally. They may only have one blade and that one shortened, but they can still cut a string or open a letter. A drop or two of oil and a little pocket time - you'll both be better off for it! :)
