Go ahead and post them all. You're improving so fast if you don't post them we won't be able to keep up with your progress.Well done

Very nice! I love the wood scales and the red spacer. Perhaps it would have looked even better with the red spacer under the entire scale as well. That doesn't just look like a kit, it looks darned near custom quality. Fine job and it appears you are having a little fun with these as well.

I would do a couple myself but it was -5 F this morning and my shop has no heat. :( I don't need a knife that bad

That looks better than the last one.

This is making me want to buy one, except that I know it wont look as good as yours.

Jason,

Kit or not, that is some real nice work you've done there. I have a DDR-2 kit from www.knifekits.com and am working on it as I write this.

You've raised the bar a little too high for me--I salute you!!! ;)

Thanks for the post

Coop

You're makin' me blush!

These are really fun! (Except for the filework!)
Most of what I have done has been at night just sitting and talking with my wife and filing or sanding. (I had to pack my grinder in the crate of stuff being shipped to Nicaragua.)
I thought about doing red under the whole scale but did not have enough. I was visiting Jerry Hossom's and he gave me a little strip of the stuff because we were talking about doing it. (Thanks again Jerry);)
I highly recommend you guys doing these . . . they are fun, easy, and I have learned a little about what the REAL makers go through to give us our toys!;) ;)

 Awesome, Jason!! This one is definitely an improvement over the first one. Congrats on a beauty. I hope you are keeping that one for yourself!!

Jason, you inspired me!

I did this one up yesterday. My arm still hurts from the sanding.

Blade and bolsters 400g hand rubbed finish
Red micarta scales shaped by me, as well as the bolsters
Cutout for the thumstud/lock
Ummmm.... 'Filework' ??? :)
Trimmed thumbstud on backside and cut the top off the using side. (I like it sharp)

Boy it walks and talks so sweet. It is quite a knife for the money, plus it was fun! I REALLY appreciate all the makers now. Heck, I did the gravy work!

That looks really great! I like the file work on the lock bar too! What is the backspacer made from? To tell you the truth my thumb is quite sore from doing two . . . DEFINITELY could use a grinder for finish work!!!!

You're kikkin butt with them kits! I've put several of those together and none are near that pretty. Keep it up!

Jason and Coop - Great jobs. Both of those look fantastic and I bet you will enjoy them.

What tools do you require to complete a "kit-knife", including doing some file-work?....Thanks....wolf

Tools needed for these:
-Torx wrenches
-files (general light fitting work . . . a small mill file will work)
-Various grit sand paper
-A drill if you opt to make your own scales
-A grinder if you want to make "bigger" changes

They are a great project and not very hard to do . . . especially if you order the kit with precut scales!!
Have Fun!!!!!
