Last Friday, I got my grimy mitts on a Dodo with black G10 scales. It is the one of the cutest knives I've ever seen or handled. It was Spyderco-sharp out of the box, too. The pocket clip was a challenge to change (two T10 torx drivers make life easier, but you can do it with one T10 and a pair of needlenose pliers), but it wasn't sealed with Loctite! (my last two Spydies had Loctite in their pocket clip threads, the ATR had red Loctite :barf: )

Man, what a great knife. Suitable for everyday carry as a main use knife or a dependable backup. Legal to carry in Boston, MA, due to its length, and cool as a fool in a pool.

Sal,

That Eric Glesser designs a great knife.

Thom,
Got a black one a few weeks back. It's taking time to grow on me. The first time I carried it I wasn't impressed, but the next couple of times it started to feel better. It's very light and I got to use the tip for some fine work, and it worked great. The tip at first looks like the matriarch's, but then the longer I look at it the cutting edge mostly looks like the cricket. I'm carrying it at work today for the first time. Very low pocket carry. Time will tell how much I'll carry it.

So Thombrogan, has the Spyderco Dodo replaced the Benchmade 921 as your favorite knife and knife manufacturer?

No, Dave. Spyderco is still my favorite manufacturer and Benchmade's 921 Switchback is still my favorite knife. The Dodo is a little cutie, though. I'd pinch its chubby cheeks if it didn't mean losing a thumb.

edited to add
And my favorite knife could easily change to be my ATR, ER Nemesis, Calypso Jr., Native, Delica, Meerkat, 705BC1CFHS, 710HS, Co-Pilot, Salsa, CS El Hombre, HI Kagas Katne, HI Biltong, or maybe even a Strider SnG, ER Fulcrum II D, or 2005 Li'l Temperance when and if I can get one. Might even become a plain-edge 154CM-steeled 705. I never know.

I haven't been impressed with a couple of actions Benchmade has taken recently such as removing USA from their new logo. In all fairness they admitted that it was human error and USA will go back onto the knives. I have been carrying my Spyderco Mouse lately and I become more and more impressed with it. I am looking forward to the Navigator II and that Bark River slipjoint. I must be getting old since I'm starting to get interested in slipjoints.
