Hot of the the truck from Chiro75. I was fortunate enough to get a couple of the DP Hunters from the Extravaganza sale, more than I really needed so... if you give so shall you receive.

Steve wanted one so he proposed I send him two and he would send one back finished. I let him have free reign on how to finish it. This is what I got!

SWEET!!!!

SHARP!! Just a piece of thin flyer type paper almost like newsprint, basically the weight of the blade.

Thanks Steve! It's great! Now I just have to figure out what to do with the 2 blanks I have left.

Hey wyrm...

Sweet....

Steve did a nice job on that...

Like the contrast of the wood and powder coat/micrarta pins..

Good job Steve..

Eric...

Gracias, amigos! :D The wood is koa I got years ago from Tom Mayo. I was hoping for more figure in it, but sometimes with wood you don't know what you have until it's on an finished. I love the way the black Micarta pins look in most wood, and with the black blade it was a no-brainer. Now, what do I do with MY apprentice blade? Hmmm....

Edit: here are a couple more pics to show the wood off a bit...

That Koa has great color! It really stands out with the black blade and pins.
Very nice job!

I'll give one piece of advice... I tried three times to put scales on without removing the black coating from the spine. The coating sort of rounds the spine over and, truthfully, it's impossible to do a decent job without just epoxying something on and grinding/sanding it all flush. So, if you like that black coating, expect to remove it from the spine, unless you do something like a partial scale or something that doesn't come right to the edge of the handle. So, this was quite a project, but I'm glad I stuck with it! I was going to slap carbon fiber from an F18 wing on the knife, but my pieces were just a little too narrow. :(
