Hi, my name is Jason and I have been hand sharpening for around 18 years. As some of you have seen in my sig line I offer a sharpening service to bladeforums members, its not a business and I don't have a web site its just something I offer to all the good people of BF. I never thought much of my sharpening ability but when I joined BF I learned I had more than just the average sharpening skill. I have gained much general knowledge from this forum and also great gains in my sharpening knowledge that have pushed me to a point that I never thought was possible. In return I would like to give back, for those that don't yet have the ability and for those that would just like to see what a extremely sharp high polished knife is like, I offer you my service.

Here is some basic info

A standard sharpening (except recurves) is done with a DMT aligner and DMT benchstones, the edge is finished on the XX-fine diamond stone then given a very light strop to remove any remaining burr. (blade length limited by aligner tool)

Hand sharpening is also done on the DMT stones but the edge is finished on a loaded strop for a higher polished finish. Their are 3 options for final finish 1, 0.5, and 0.25 micron,

Re-curves and convex edges are a special breed and could be sharpened in several different ways.

From this time on the first sharpening is always free and return customers will also receive reduced pricing on previously sharpened blades. All plain edges guaranteed hair whittling sharp.

Customer responsible for all shipping charges.

This is kinda my rough draft so I'm open to suggestion, questions, and changes. Please let me know what ya all think or if their is anything else you would like to know about me.

Thanks,
Jason

Are you going to charge extra for blades that are chipped or nicked badly? Right now, I sharpen knives for free for friends and relatives, and some of them I have gotten have edges that are as thick as the spine, I could never imagine hand sharpening those blades.

No, I like to set my own bevels so that is not a issue for me. It takes very little time with the diamond stones and most of the knives I get to sharpen now are from friends, family and the local fire and police. You would not believe some of the extreme damage I have had to work with but to me that's just part of the process.

Sorry but this needs to be rethought and will be closed for now.
