Here's my Sheffield-styled Bowie that almost never happened. I didn't want to exacerbate my recent rib injury by forging and handrubbing, but some gentle persuasion from a customer did the trick. Forged it on Wednesday, finished on Friday, Completed the sheath at 2am on the Saturday morning of the show. My first time using croc-skin on a sheath. Physically, it wasn't pleasant, but ...

SPECS - 10.5inch blade of 1/4inch thickness at the ricasso. Very detailed hamon with a chisel-ground clip. Asymmetric guard and full tang handle with 416SS fittings, Merino sheepshorn handles. It won me the "Best Forged" (Non-damascus) award which is my first knife show award ever. That sure made up for the exhaustion.

Feedback appreciated, as always, but nothing will wipe the grin off my face... :D

Awesome blade, man! Your stuff is always great, but this is especially great. Congrats on the award.

Absolutely stunning, Doctor!!!!!

Well deserved award, IMHO! :D

Congratulations Jason. As usual, a great looking hamon, nice handle slabs and great fit and finish.

Thanks for the positivity guys, Much appreciated. It was as much relief as pride when I finished this piece. I have a couple of good customers / friends who are constantly pushing me to extend the "boundaries" of what I am able to do. It was a bit of "ribbing" (pun intended :D ) from them that helped me decide to do this piece.

I did come away from the forging and hand finishing rather sore in the ribs, but nowhere as bad as I'd feared. Just in time too.

If I get my act together, next year's show, I'll be trying to put in entries for at least 6 separate award categories, and seeing what happens. Looking at the quality of many of the other makers at the show this year, including some who have only been making knives for barely a few years... I will have my work cut out for me. But hey, whats life without a friendly challenge ?

Thanks again, to all. Jason.

Dude,Just gotta' post again.Awesome, awesome Bowie!Looks like a croc's gonna' crawl right out of the sheath.

i'm not normally much of a bowie person, but this is one a half dozen that has really wow'd me. an impressive piece all the way around. definitely deserves the award.
