and I can't dance. :D

Seriously though, I have a tanned deerskin that I'd like to use as a backdrop for some photos, but the skin has been rolled up for years, and has many too many wrinkles. How can I safely smooth it out? Can I soak it like a cowhide and smooth it with my hands, or would that ruin a deerskin?

I'm not sure, but you might try Fur-fish-Game magazine. They have lots of articles on trapping and fur care/prep. I don't know if they have a website, but it isn't a very expensive magazine.

That's been my favorite outdoor magazine by far since grade school. We have a ton of 'em in the basement ... could you tell me which page its on? :D Odd, but I really can't remember any articles on the subject ... not with tanned hides, anyway. Very entertaining, down home, diehard backwoodsman-oriented wonderful magazine. (They deserve a plug, imo!)

Well, I got hold of a tannery that specializes in deerskin, and they recommended that I just hang the skin from a clothesline, and let gravity and the wind take care of the rest... so I'll do dat. :)
