Bought this brand new from knifeworks a week ago, Ever since I first got it out of the box I have noticed a small nick on the blade on the side with no thumb stud.. Its not a huuuge scratch but still there.. and it bothers me becuase this is the most expensive knife I've ever bought. What should I do? What would YOU do?

If it's small you can probably polish it out at home.
If it reeeeeealy bothers you, you can also send the knife back in to CRK to have them refurbish it. If you just bought it they might do it for free, but if not you'll probably have to pay the $27 blade refurbish cost and the S&H.

IMHO, the sebenzas are user knives. Even the mirror polished CAD/CAM machined ones. The scratches give them character. Hell, I got thousands of scratches on mine (might be from the beadblasting though )

You could try polishing it out, but I wouldn't bother. Unless you bought the knife to collect, just use it and get more scratches to match.

I appreciate the quick response, Yeah it's small but still there ya know.. I will try to buff it out myself. And I do plan on using this one. Hopefully it will last me many many years to come :)

I thought the blade of the Sebenza is covered in scratches? Being a stonewash finish and all. In any case if it really does bother you, definitely call your dealer.

Stonewash is an option. If you get anything more than a micarta inlay, it's usually a mirror polished blade.

it's usually a mirror polished blade

CRK hasn't done mirror polishing of the blade since the switch of ATS-34 to BG42.

You should get over it and use the knife. You'll better appreciate what a nice knife you have if you use it, rather then obcess over it.

I suppose if this happened you'd pass out:

The scratch on my knife is more significant than the smaller ones in the finish. It's very noticeable. Not that much of a big deal. I plan on using this one for years.. Was just wondering if its normal or what other people would do. I'm just gonna ignore it and use it.

It probably happened by being handled at some point after leaving the factory. If it's a bad scratch, you could send it back to the dealer you bought it from for an exchange.

If you are gonna use it then I would be glad its already there. I hate putting that first scratch on new blade. But yours already has one so you don't have to worry about that! ;)

This thread is worthless without pics! After all the stonewashed finish IS scratches. I've noticed over the years that CRK has allowed some bigger scratches in the mix. ZMZy newest 21 has some that are much bigger than the rest... but if you change the angle of light... well they kinda mix in!

Just use her, and in a couple years you can send her in and get her back good as new. If its a user, itll get scratched anyways. I wouldnt find it worth sending it in. My seb had a couple of scratched in the blade as well. I got mine as a replacement directly from reeve
