this is my first knife/blade etc that I have made..be gentle
this was just something to keep me entertained...
only tools available were bench metal stuff....
I used a piece of unidentified scrap metal....blade length is 2" on a side...1/4" thick
I believe it is of medium carbon content....
heat treated with O&A torch and a bucket of salt water....
tempered in an oven
some old dura-coat in a can for a little color....I changed the angle of the grind after I wrapped the handle and coated it so the finish is now ruined (lesson learned = finish all metal work to happiness level before coating)(I know this because of my profession, but got ahead of my self) so the finish is not as nice as it could be to include the scratches in the metal....
it makes me wish I had a belt grinder and other machine tools....
what do you all think?
