I just got a new mod back from Chase Axinn at Chax knives and I thought I'd show it off, along with the other work he has done for me. This puppy started out life as an off-the-rack H&K 14210, one of my favorite Benchmade products.
My photo skills don't do this one justice. The jigged bone scales are a deep green with lighter shades of green around the edges. The color is very consistent throughout. The clip, screws, and liners were polished to make them stand out and go with the polished scales.
I left the choice of scale color up to Chase. He and I talked several times about what the knife would be used for and what I liked and this was his final result. In every way, it is flawless. I like his color choice, the polish work he did on the bare metal parts, and especially the fit of everything. Every part of the knife is as well mated and finished as the front section near the pivot in the last photo. I can see the line where the metal liners join the scales, but absolutley nothing can be felt. Chase must have shaped and fitted the scales under a microscope.
This one is perfect! Nice work my friend!
These two are some previous scale mods that Chase did for me. They are a Spyderco Native 1 and a BM 721 that used to have a coated blade.
