After receiving my fourth Gransfors Bruks axe today (small forest axe) I decided to put them all together and take a few pictures. Here is most of what I've got. There are about four more axes and hatchets up at my camp that were unavailable for the photo shoot. These are all users, and look the part.

Included are three modified Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawks, Gransfors Bruks American Felling Axe, Scandanavian Forest Axe, Small Forest Axe, and Wildlife Hatchet.

Also, Timberline Bush Pilot's Hatchet (not a big fan of this one-on the list to modify), Fiskars Splitting Axe (HUGE fan of this one!), and a no-name hardware store axe and hatchet (gifts) that I reground and modified to actually work!

My next purchase-Handmade Hawk!

Great collection man! I would love to have even half of those. I got the same Fiskars for Christmas. Do you know it's any good at other thing besides splitting?

Thanks guys.

Spaceboy, in my experience, the Fiskars splitting axe is a specialized tool only good for splitting. Its not really a felling or a limbing axe... wrong shape. It truly excells at splitting rounds, or larger pieces into smaller ones for the wood stove/fireplace. In fact, I haven't used my maul once since I got this splitting axe last year. The first few tries with this axe really amazed me. It not only split the round, but sunk itself deep into the chopping block as well. I really had to learn to back off the throttle with this one! My only minor complaint is that I wish it was about 3 or 4" longer.

Its not real great at making small kindling either, but it will do if need be. Typically, I use it as described above, then use an old hand-me-down 40 year old axe to make the chunks into small kindling when needed. Enjoy!
