I finally made my own knatchet. Ive been wanting one for a while and I drew pitdogs design out and It was a little bigger than I wanted so I scaled it down.

Its 1095, 3/16" steel. Convex grind. I left some of the black on there from the heat treat because it was hard to get off and I thought it looked good.

It is 2" at its widest, blade is 3 3/4", handle is around 5 1/2". Overall length is around 9". I love it. Its the perfect size and its an awesome design.

Again, I want to thank pitdog for designing such a great knife.

That's awesome buddy, should make a real handy all rounder now you've scaled it down !;)

Great job !!!

Thanks guys.

What really got me wanting one was a thread about 1 knife for survival or in the woods. This is it for me. I cant speak for the feel of the full size one but this one is awesome. It chops like a small hatchet and cuts like a knife. If you havn't handled one you are missing out on a great blade.

Not planning on making any of these to sell for a few reasons.

1) not my design so I dont feel right making and selling,

2) this is my 7th knife and im trying to get better befor I start selling. I have one in the Bushcraft contest that I hope to get some good constructive critisim of and that will help me be a better maker.

3) I need to get some more and better tools.

Im glad you like it though. I bet you could talk to pitdog or maybe the other guys that made them for a while, maybe they would be interested in doing one.

That photo is the first one I saw of the knatchet and I fell in love with it. Very nice. I hope it looks good and used by now.

I already took mine out for some wood chopping. Not a lot but I took a few good wacks at some poplar lumber that I had laying around. Took out chunks easily. A few swipes on the leather and its back to shaving sharp. I think I will probably leave it just under shaving sharp for the kind of use it will get but im just so anal about wanting to get my knives scary sharp. Is there something wrong with me?

Very nice for a seventh blade. I would never have though it was that early on. Great job.

I have one too from Jk knives. It is an awesome tool. You know the sincerest form of flattery is to copy something and you made a classy comment about not wanting to begin selling them since the design isn't yours. Maybe asking the creator and original maker how they feel about it...they may give you the thumbs up...
