This year my cheer was filled with SOGs

I started my journey on X-mas eve where I traveled up north to Pasadena to visit my father. We ate prime rib and drank on fine wine while recounting many fond holiday memories past. Early the next morning we exchanged gifts. I gave my Step-mom a SOG Crosscut which she liked very much. My father recived a SOG mini X-Ray Vision that he was completely enthralled with. He used it to open the remainder of his gifts and carries it every day since it is conducive to his job wich would not allow a larger blade.

After opening gifts I left Pasadena for my mother's in Santa Maria. The drive was beautiful, along the coast on a bright, warm X-mas morning. I got to see my brother which I am very greatful for. He is an acute schitzophrenic and it is rare to see him. He is doing much better and is in a wonderful place getting help. I gave my mom her Gold TiNi Crosscut which she absolutely adores. She had to call me up on the road to tell me she used it immeadiatly after I left and cant imagine what she'd do without it. I had yet another prime rib dinner with many family members and left that early evening for Colorado.

I made it just past Vegas that first night and was in Colorado the next day. I reunited with my best friends Chris and Trenton. Chris recieved a SOG Blink for X-mas and was laughing a very super-villian-ish laugh the moment he flicked it open. Then came the Cermonial Passing of the SOG and Drinking Contest. It was originally ment to be the passing of my Powerplier of 6 years to Trenton like Chris recieved my Paratool, but I had more SOGs up my sleave. Amidst drinking many many exotic beers from around the globe I ceremoniously bequethed my Powerplier to Trenton and my Pentagon Elite to Chris. There was one other friend there, Goose, and he was looking sad in his beer that he was SOG-less and alone in this ceremony. So I reached into my bag of tricks and pulled out a brand new Crossgrip in the box. Goose's eyes lit up with joy and drunkeness as he clutched his first and new-found SOG.

The rest of the vacation was great. Chris was pleased when his Blink cut the thumb of a former highschool classmate. Trenton was greatful that he can now have a proficient tool to carry when he builds fences at his side-job. Goose was happy in his beer and no longer was SOG-less. Were it not for my love for these people I would have happily kept the SOG's I bought.....but giving them to these people whom are so dear to me.....seeing the happiness and pride with which they wield them...it is more joy than the knives alone can give me.

Saddly, upon my return I have lost my job as a maker of video-games. The economic situation has been too much for my former company to bear so I was laid off, they were sorry about it. The same exact thing happened to me 2 years ago on my last trip to see my freinds. It was hard then but I came out on top and broke into the industry i always wantd to be a part of. I will show the same determination now. Freelance Web-Design is my bread and butter at the moment if anyone knows of any good gigs. ;)

I was gonna put this stuff in the community forum but i feel more comfortable here. I came into blade forums here, BobbyB and Ron were the first to respond, to talk to me. I like you guys. I tried to call you to wish you a happy hollidays at SOG, Ron. I got one of your screeners but I will call again when things clear up then we can shoot the shite for a while about whatever.

:)

Glad to hear you had SOGgy holiday:D; sorry to hear about the job:( ...
Look on the bright side: work always interferes with your life!!! ;) Just ask Ron:rolleyes: ... he's probably at work today (Saturday) even as I write this.:p

You might want to consider new friends though...;) if when you go to see them you get laid off - that kinda sucks! A guy like you, who can relinquish SOGs to his friends, will be alright, you'll see!

Keep your chin up, and your SOGs sharp!

Hey Skinnwalker,

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your job. That really sucks! It’s important to keep a positive spirit and “work hard” at acquiring a new job. It sounds like you have some great family and friends...and you’re a great friend, too.

Bobby is right. Jobs can interfere with your life...mine has! Over the holidays (September – December), I was working 70-80 hour weeks. I’m probably down to something over 65 this past week. And Bobby’s right again, I’ve been here at work since 7:30 this morning and work through mid-afternoon (I have Queen cranking on my office stereo right now). I do love my job, but there’s just a lot of it to do. I’d rather be at home playing with my wonderful two two boys and my great wife (bad “hair day” for the boys). Bryce, my little boy, just runs up to me when I get home with arms outstretched wanting a hug. So I accommodate. :) My older boys is really enjoying that his Dad will actually take some time to play Game Cube with him (he LOVES his new Nintendo Game Cube). So, while they are at home, here I am working on Saturday, with 31 more emails in which to respond, a staff working today needing managerial oversight, a stack of letters to write, computer hardware problems to resolve, training new personnel...and the list goes on. That it’s SOG is what makes it all worth it.

I wish you my best in your job search. You are absolutely welcome to call me anytime! I just talked with Loretta (one of my “call screeners”) and she thinks she remembers your call the week before Christmas. I was conducing interviews when you called and was away from my desk for a sizable amount of time that week. I may not be all that easy to reach, but I’d love to talk with you guys.

I did take the liberty of posting this over in the Community forum, as well (you seemed to want to post it there). Here's the thread I started.

Take care! :)
