It's a great 'stump axe' or carving axe. Made in Solingen. 'Stump axe' is a term used to describe a hatchet used for carving atop a stump. It's a convenient way to work.

That is a great looking hatchet Square_peg. Quick question, your handle there is marked "Premium". Is there a story on those? This isn't a hatchet (it's the handle on a Plumb Pulaski) but it looks to be the same/similar mark. I kind of figured it was a replacement handle on mine. Was just curious.
