Well my oldest son 13 helped make the cabin that I won the BK5 with. So I thought it was only fair to get him a little something. A brand new BK14 :)

well him being related to me and all he wanted to do something to it right away. So he picked through my 550 cord picked out one he liked and I started the wrap for him but he did the rest.

And the finished product.

Now he is wanting to know how old you have to be to get a BH number lol

That wrap looks nicer than anything I'm able to do, tell him kudos!!! It's just a matter of time before he wants to do another mod :) Glad you got him started off right.

Grats on the new 14, and you did a nice wrap job there.

Nice, that should be a great knife for a kid his age. Not sure if he has others but I'm sure he will remember this one forever(and with a little luck he will have it that long as well) That's a good question, I'm sure you would be proud to be the father of the first beckerhead that couldn't even drive a car ;)

He has had several cheap folders including a SAK that he lost sledding on Christmas (the same day he got it) several years ago, but he has been a lot more responsible lately. Last fall I gave him an old S&W fixed blade that was a gift from my father when I was 13. He shot his first deer and used it to clean it. I figured the BK14 would make a great knife for him to use. We will post more pics of it in use.

Very fitting reward for helping you out. He did a nice job on the handle wrap.

Hats awesome man, your boy dId a great job with the handle wrap. My 6yr old wants my 7 everytime I take him with me in the woods, lol. Hope to see some more pics in use by your son.

Very nice work on both your parts. I was fondling my BK-11 today and thinking it would make a good first up knife for my little bloke, except he's only eight and my significantly better half would not approve. Come to think of it, neither would my son. He's got his eyes on my 9. ;)

Congratulations guy! You sure like that KU Hoodie don't you! Nice knife and wrap.

Man, that handle is wrapped well for anyone, nevermind his age. He'll definitely remember that forever. Very cool.

That was very cool of you to do! Good to see dads teaching their sons and rewarding them for a job well-done! My son is only 6 and he's already trying to claim all my knives that he likes, and he already put in his requests from the new Ka-Bar catalog.

How did you start that wrap? I've always done that style by putting the middle of the paracord by the blade and weaving the 2 strands back and forth. He did a great job with the wrap.

I just held the end in place up a little bit and did the first two figure eights to hold it in.

Your son did a great job on that wrap. It is great seeing father's spending time with their sons, especially when it is spent modding knives.
