My son, who is almost 40, has been out of work with a busted ankle for a few weeks and decided that he wanted to try his hand at making a knife. Well, here is his first attempt. He is the sole author of this blade. (all I did was bark instructions and help him clean up the grind lines.) He also made the sheath.

What'cha think?

O-1 Tool Steel
Burgandy Linen Micarta Scales
Stainless Pins
OAL - 8 1/4"
Blade Tip to Handle - 4"

He may have found a new way to make a buck. Looks like he's a better sheath maker than other members of the Dark clan.:D
I like the belly on that knife. It looks real usable. Tell him to keep up the good work.
I wish my first one had looked that nice. It was made from a file in 1963. I found it the other day in an old tool box.
I did manage to make a few big Bowies in the early 70s that turned out nice. A friend still uses one for an a small ax in wild places.

If I were him I'd spend some more time in your shop and see if I couldn't start a new avocation at least.

Nicely done. He must have been watching the past few weeks:)
