This is a copy and paste of my 11 year-old son's post on another site. The contest he mentions in the first paragraph was to honor the memory of a young outdoors man who passed away at an early age. He was one of several winners, and this is his trip report.
Young Bushcrafter Contest Trip Report
Hey guys I, SonofBeanbag just came back from a hiking and kayaking trip in New England. On the trip I used some equipment purchased with the contest money from Antons parents. I just wanted to say thank you all very much for holding the contest. The trip was awesome and it was even better knowing that I was bringing Antons memory with me. The hiking and kayaking was amazing and we even climbed Mt.Washington. The gear used was very comfortable and made the hiking and camping very easy. Thank you again very much for the contest and I will continue spreading Antons memory on all of my future wilderness adventures. Here are some photos from the trip.
On the first day we did a high and low ropes course so all the kids could get to know each other.
Over the next few days we hiked the Presidential Range
Here are pictures from Mt. Webster and Mt. Jackson:
Me, with Mt. Washington in the background:

These are the tents we slept in:
Here are some Pictures from our Mt. Washington hike.
We started at 9 a.m. and finished at 5 p.m. The hike was about 8 miles round-trip on the Tuckerman Ravine Trail.
Approaching the tree line and a quick snack break:
Hiking above the tree line:
Less than a mile to the top:
Getting closer.
Clouds closing in:
The cloudy summit:
If you don't want to hike, you can drive or take the coal fired cog-railway to the top:
Making our way down through the clouds:
Back out of the clouds:
After the hiking we drove to Maine for some kayaking:
I hope my friends will send me some kayaking pictures to post.
We had our good-bye dinner in Portland and drove home the next day.
Thanks for looking.
