Found today at a local swap meet.... Camillus, New York
"Jet Pilot Knife". Born on dating 5-1984. In good nick,
pommel has seen some hammer massaging, sheath has
been modified from original. Wicked sharp edge. I will
leave this just as I found it. Apparently, those gifted at
Gov't searches can locate who/where this knife was issued.
Pretty high on my "way cool" scale. I gladly gave $10.

Friend in OSI tactical ops says these were not only issued
to pilots.

Show em' if you got em'. This is my first ....

Your friend in OSI Tactical Ops, is correct. :)

One of my uncles was an Army Grunt (not CIA or an "Advisor") from 1959 to 1963 or 1960 to 1964, I forget which.
The Army issued him a Demo Knife, and a Jet Pilot Survival Knife, when they sent him to Viet Nam.
(Why the Army issued him an Air Force knife, I'll never know.)

He gave both to me when he got out. :) I was 8 or 9 or the time. Sadly, both are long gone. :( I think I last saw them around 1966., when my mum divorced my Da, and she took me to live with her mum for a few months. I lived with my Da, after that.)

I remember seeing the Camillus Pilots Survival Knife for sale in the AAFES Clothing Sales stores during my entire 32 year career in the ARNG (along with a good selection of Buck Knives and Leatherman tools). Anyone who wanted one could buy one to carry in the field. They were quite popular - tough, short, and relatively inexpensive. Should be many floating around out there in good used condition. OH
Ps. For those who don’t know, AAFES is the name of the Army-Air Force Exchange System, AKA the BX or PX, depending on which services base (or post) it was located on.

I have a handful, but this one is most precious to me. I have shared it before. It belonged to my dad. He was EOD in the USAF, and carried one as part of his "kit". I believe this one is a 1968 Camillus.

Spoke with my brother... flew A-7's USN (70's-80's).
He says he was issued this exact knife on day one
of training...before the split of jet pilot, helo pilot,
transport pilot...etc. . His remains NOS as he says
Fighter Pilots usually carried a small switchblade,
and a separate hook knife in a small pocket on his
flight suit (to cut a shroud line if it were looped over
the top of the canopy). He feels the larger knives
were probably for aircraft types you couldn't eject
from... but not sure. So... one fighter Pilot's take...
