I recently got back from a vacation in Florida and was able to visit a gun and knife show while I was there. While browsing the thousands of knives that were on display at the show the profile of the Spartan just stood out at me. I asked to handle it and couldn't put it down. The design is great and the stout and heavy blade makes for an amazing cutter/ chopper (especially for something that is so thick). I had seen the knife once before here at home (in Canada) and did not give it the time of day because the retailer was asking a pretty outrageous price (believe it or not he wanted over $200 when the msrp on the website is $115).
After I left the show I had to test it out (in my own way). I have seen the video's produced by Cold Steel and knew it was able to stand up to alot of abuse. I figured while being someplace tropical I would baptize it while finding me a fresh drink.
I must have opened about 10 coconuts for everybody that we were staying with before having this picture taken with mine. There was no ware on the blade at all and it was still hair shaving sharp as when I brought it home from the show.
I now EDC this badboy in my weak side back pocket as I can deploy it perfectly with the way it catches the pocket.
Kudos for creating such a great product. I have other blades of AUS 8A that have not held up as well.
Cheers,
Tim
