Pics of my Spec Bump. I took it apart and removed the metal cylinders in the backspacer then reassembled without the plastic backspacer.

My Tyrade is next! Had to order some standoffs from USA Knifemaker for it though. This one nothing was needed to be purchased.
 
Idk, it seems pretty solid. What would larger standoffs accomplish? It would still be using the same screws holding it all together. Thanks for comment though maybe I will order some from USA Knifemaker.
 
The handle probly flexed alot less with the full g10 spine. Before the g10 spine would be more rigid regardless of the screws, at least in regard to the handle flexing when gripping hard or prying. Standoffs that are larger would have more surface area to brace against the liners :)
 
It honestly doesn't flex at all, very solid. I don't pry with my knives though so can't comment on that lol.
 
You can also see the end of the torsion bar sticking out in there. Don't know if that bothers you, but it would drive me bonkers.
 
Yea that kinda bothers me but not as much as the ill-fitting backspacer did. It was not flush with the liners at all.
Maybe I could snip the end of the torsion bar that sticks out without messing it up.
 
Ya you could probably get away with cutting that torsion bar off almost flush with the inside of the liner. Give it a shot. Worse comes to worse you'll have to call Kershaw and wait a week to get another one. Also, if you like the g10 backspacer but hate how it didn't form well you could use a sanding block with some wet/dry sandpaper and form fit them together. Either way good job I usually like standoffs better than backspacers.
 
Agreed, I like standoffs better as well. I thought this mod was cool cuz these standoffs are hidden in the backspacer. I am just letting them breath:D
 
Just did this mod to my Tyrade. Will put up pics tomorrow, my camera doesn't like artificial light.
